Shawshank for January 6 Detainees
The government argues the events of January 6 along with the defendants’ skepticism about the outcome of the 2020 election are evidence the accused are a threat to society.

“I’ve been in solitary confinement for a hundred days now and haven’t been convicted of any crime with no end in sight.”
That was part of a lengthy message Jacob Lang sent to his father, Ned, the last week of April. Jacob was arrested on January 16 in New York and charged with several crimes related to his activity in Washington, D.C. on January 6. Lang, who turned 25 while incarcerated, is accused of assaulting police officers using a dangerous or deadly weapon. The government’s evidence against him appears to be strong. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

D.C. jail treatment of Capitol riot defendants draws bipartisan outrage
"It was a well-thought-out strategic plan" to transfer inmates to D.C., where they can be "mic'd in a cage," lawyer says.

A short drive from the U.S. Capitol, 1,500 inmates are stuck in their jail cells 22 hours a day. Until last month it was 23, and they were also barred from going outside.
A smaller group of inmates may have it even worse: those awaiting trial for alleged crimes in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. They've been placed in "restrictive housing," a maximum-security designation.
Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) also cited the Post report in an April 22 floor speech against D.C. statehood. Alleging the city has been "essentially torturing inmates" for more than a year, Higgins said: "That is ultimately a violation of the 8th Amendment ... Is this what we can expect from a D.C. state?"
Comer requested but has not received a briefing with Mayor Muriel Bowser about jail conditions, prompting him to demand Oversight Chair Carolyn Maloney hold an emergency hearing on "these gross abuses that are happening right at our doorstep."
Both Bowser and Maloney "have refused the requests asked of them," according to Comer. A spokesperson for Maloney connected Just the News with an Oversight staffer, who has not responded, while Bowser's spokesperson has not responded.
A Department of Corrections spokesperson did not answer email questions and declined to speak on the record in a phone interview.
"Solitary confinement is a form of punishment that is cruel and psychologically damaging," Warren told Politico a month later. The Massachusetts Democrat fears the Jan. 6 defendants are being singled out to "punish" them or "break them so that they will cooperate" with federal prosecutors.
Durbin was surprised to learn about the restrictive housing. It should be a "rare exception" with a "clear justification," the Illinois Democrat told the news outlet, to be used in "very limited circumstances."
Staff for Durbin, who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Warren, a member of the Senate Democratic leadership, did not respond to queries for an update on their efforts to get better treatment for the Jan. 6 defendants.
Lavrov based AF named the ISIS commanders captured by name and country of origin.
zero coverage by fake news
So, how many from Russia? And captured by which side in the conflict?
I lol’ed one was named “Hershel”, Israelis, UK, crazy
I remember the one Israeli convert to Islam that they executed as an alleged Israeli spy.
They also executed multiple alleged Russian spies. In either Syria or Iraq the executioner of some of these guys was a Slavic convert from Russia.
isis is armed and trained by the west. those 'russian' isis guys are mostly immigrants from europe.
Only in the way they're also "armed with Russian weapons" that they captured from the Syrian government (and various other governments, in the many countries around the world that IS is active - including Russia itself, especially in Dagestan).
Their only "Western training" was they "trained" by having been fighting the Americans and America's allies for almost a decade in Iraq. When they really had to get good at it as to survive (and when they were being supported by Syrian government, which backfired on the latter).
I don't believe for a second that Russia cares about those peoples' rights.
HOWEVER it is in their best interest for the US to stop bending over to accept Xi's tiny pecker. And as long as the rest of Europe is useless, Russia is a natural ally to help check China. I'd be fine working with them as long as they can help us get the Chicoms out of the deep state.
This is the absolute inverse and the logical result of LBJ/Nixon's policy of "fuck China sweetly to FUCK the USSR" policy.
Kissinger and friends always intended for China to fuck us like this. Stalin went off the reservation, so they needed a new project country to make into their workshop of the world.
Not sure if this is criticism or not, but if it is, I would counter that a nationalist Russia lacks the capacity to challenge on the world stage
At the time, China lacked the ability to challenge on the world stage. It was a starving, pre-industrial shithole.
You're ignoring potential. Pre Industrial China was one big bundle of potential. Russia is not
Agreed.
Frankly, the long-term geo-political objective of Russia is to make sure that Iran, India, China, and Turkey don't re-open the fucking Silk Road. If they could figure out a way to improve the infrastructure of their transcontinental railroad, and get access to Chinese goods while keeping them unable to expand in a North-eastern direction, they'll be set for the coming century.
But with China, the EU, and the US fully co-operating, they are nervous as fuck.
They're being colonized by China in the Far East (with many in Russia panicking over this for at least 20 years, but the government is just ignoring it), other than that they're allied on everything.
China might be able to invade that and take it over if Russia isn't more careful.
Why to invade a vassal country?
Russia's just China junior ally. Nothing less and nothing more.
US: this medicine tastes bitter, why do I have to drink it?
Russia: It's actually your own.
I told a cousin of mine that the day I’ll wrong my hands about January 6th is the day that BLM/Media take a tiny bit of responsibility for the riots.
when everyone involved in CHAZ is behind bars, then they can talk about jan 6.
Nah, I'll be willing to talk about Jan 6th when we do it again this year and instead of telling people to go home, President Trump says what he should have said last time: "Heads. Spikes. Walls."
Good news! A bunch of talking heads have all agreed that the spiked walls built around the capitol like a post-apoc DMZ already exist!
What is disturbing to me is how they are refusing to provide information on their status. There's no way that is legal. Have they been able to get any legal representation? Make phone calls?
Personally I don't have a problem with solitary confinement. That would be the easy part. I hope they can sue them once they get out.
LOL Democrats obeying laws.
They've definitely got lawyers but... the establishment aren't going to let these people go any time soon.
Really fucking disgusting behavior.
"After 3 years of court trials, we find you guilty of a minor misdemeanor. One month in prison. Time already served counts, so you're free to go but because you were technically guilty you can't sue us over the forced incarceration for 40x that amount of time."
Russian reversal.
I feel like this will just guarantee those jailed will be treated even worse.
That's part of the point, yes. Further drive the hysterical divisions. The attorneys defending the protesters are trying to get them executed if at all possible.
They can't succeed at that with a Trespassing charge, so they'll have to settle for letting the system abuse them as long as humanly possible.
Quite unlikely. They may want to treat them even worse, but they will not be able to. Courts are not going to stand for this sort of thing.
Tony: The courts are not going to stand for this.
Courts: Stand for 155 days of non-stop race rioting by Democratic proxy militias
It's called the separation of powers. The courts can't order them jailed if the executive branch releases them.
You assume the executive branch doesn't want them hung from a bridge.
Actually, my assumption was that the judicial branch doesn't want that. Or at least, will uphold legal precedents upholding the rights of defendants.
I have very little confidence that the Judiciary is prepared to defend the 5th amendment.
Hard to beat 23h a day in solitary confinement.
"You're free to go, but you must attend full-time lectures in Intersectional Studies and watch every Amy Schumer special."
If Russia supports the jan 6 protesters, it is purely for political gain to destabilize the US. Not that we need their help in running this country to the ground, but it's worth pointing out. Just like the CCP, the Russian gov will extend a helping hand one day, and a knife the next if it means keeping the US weak.
Our country is already destabilized. I really dont see how this will make it any worse. Just dont get too cozy with them, obviously they have ulterior motives.
I'm not usually one to psychoanalyze, but at this point, I think I can make a judgement call: It isn't about destabilizing the USA. The USA is solidly unstable already. Russia doesn't need to mess with anything there, in fact, any messing around might be antithetical to that cause.
I think Putin is just a troll. He funds Black Lives Matter in the USA while banning it in Russia. Same for feminist orgs. He had an entire election campaign about gypsy women predicting in crystal balls that Putin would take teenagers' virginities with a tagline of "Putin is for virgin lovers". He rides around shirtless on horses. And he cries in concern of the power of China's economy while being the "R" of the BRIC trade deal. He helps every foreign whistleblower that causes problems, while ousting immigration generally.
He's being contrarian and silly. He's trolling. He's clownpilled, and in it for the lulz.
True.
Agreed.
They've got these people in basically a government black site, 23 hours a day locked up in fucking solitary, theres reports of them being beaten.
Honestly, russia is 200 percent right here.
The Russians are continuing to exploit the Left's balkanization for their own geo-political purposes.
If you think the Russians give 2 shits whether or not every single Trump supporter dies in a DC prison awaiting their Trespassing case, you're a fool.
The Russians would probably love it, as it would serve well to discredit your supposed liberal democracy.
Is Russia gonna end up being France in the 1770s?
