Honestly...with that one reporter standing in front of a literal burning building saying "yeah these protests are mostly peaceful" I genuinely don't know anymore.

Pretty much. I was looking for the "Harlequin" logo on the cover; it looks like something someone banged out in a couple days using the usual romantic templates and just jigging the setting to be "relevant".
