I have no plans on taking this bullshit vaccine, but this story doesn't mean anything.
I, personally, have about an 80% of getting light headed or passing out when I get any sort of injection or blood draw. Some of us just don't like needles.
*that said ... Why the fuck are they broadcasting these injections? What is the point? It's just ridiculous theater.
People go down from needles for basically no reason. We had just finished a long ruck and everyone was getting an IV of ringers at the finish line. The moment he got stuck, my 220lbs teammate calmly stated, "going down," before he and his 55lbs ruck collapsed on this poor 100lbs nurse. Her arms and legs were sticking out like a cartoon. No one could help the poor girl because they were laughing too hard.
That usually happens before or during the injection though, this was supposed to be 10 mins after. Still it's just one case and people do faint from needles all the time. I don't expect any of these televised injections to be that dangerous, because the reason they do them at all is supposed to be installing confidence for people to get it.
I hate to defend this stuff, but I'll say 10 minutes after is still risky for me to walk after getting blood drawn. But I don't give a fuck about needles or pain, it's a blood phobia. I act like a child getting it done and then I have to hang out for a while because passing out and waking up cold, wet, and confused on the floor is really unpleasant (the staff don't like it either). Though I have a history of blood issues and am on blood thinners.
Now you know what propaganda looks like in the wild.
And yeah, I hate needles too. At least I've already gone through the "waking up full of tubes with a breather in yer face" worst nightmare scenario thing. I guess I can take them without being a big baby any more, but I still try to avoid 'em. And I'll never understand the weirdoes who do it for fun. There's other ways to get high that don't risk the shit that poking yourself exposes you to.
I did take this year's flu shot when I got my prescription renewed a month or two ago, though. My reasoning has to be that, well, if I do get sick, I don't want the flu getting confused for the wuflu. Cocksucker did give me the muscle pains and shit this time, though. Never did before. (I usually take it every other year if I remember. Sometimes I forget.)
And I did get my childhood shots updated, because whooping cough went around here recently. Fuck that noise, my mom told me about how unpleasant that shit was. Crap, when I last got my booster in grade 7, either they didn't tell us we had to do it every 10 years, or we didn't listen. Yep, they used to give it to us in school.
I'm still not taking this shot, though, not until everyone else has and it's been a while.
Faints when she feels pain? OK, there's an evolutionary dead end.
(So she just falls over in a dead faint 5 minutes after every papercut? Because in my experience vaccinations hurt WAY less than papercuts.)
I doubt this'll change anyone's mind, it's just a bit of fun during a fiasco. It's like that time Windows 98 (95?) BSODed on Bill Gates when he (i.e. his subordinate) demoed it onstage.
As much as I hate getting stuck with a needle, I can still tolerate injections. Blood draws aren't a problem so long as I don't see the needle going in. Hell, I used to donate blood four times a year until I got put on medicine for high blood pressure. This? Fainting several minutes after getting stuck? Yeah, that doesn't exactly engender confidence in the vaccine as a whole.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not some sort of anti-vax nutball that thinks they give kids autism, are injecting tracking chips, or some similar bullshit - but I'm steering clear of the WuFlu vaccinations until they've at least been out in the wild for several months and several hundred thousand injections. They can claim the vaccine is safe all they want, but in my mind it still looks like a rushed job that hasn't had enough study time put behind it.
Hell, I'm a straight, white, middle-aged, middle-class dude. They'll probably put me so low on the totem pole that it'll be another decade before I can even apply to get it because I've already had my "privileged" time on this planet.

which I no longer interpret as a benign act

Probably means nothing, still fucking funny that it happened right during their vaccine dog and pony show.
Found the nail and hammered it all in one.

Seems like a really bad condition to have if you're a nurse.
FFS people. If you know that you are going to pass out from "the pain" of a needle, WTF would do it live on TV at a press conference!! Jesus Christ!
Yeah that's what I don't get. I understand the other defenses, but why use her as a guinea pig if this was a potentiality?
I guess diversity hires don't understand optics or PR.
Conclusion, pick one: COVID vaccine is fishy, or women are still damsels :D

Sure sounds better than "beta tester".
