Guten tag. I work for one of the aforementioned companies and will provide information. The company had a group working on this the second management started embracing critical theory. It consisted of female managers of nonproductive teams, HR, and the alphabet employees who put their "gender" in their bio.

It has gotten so absurd that they were considering banning black box and replacing it with opaque box. Someone heard in a meeting that a backend testing label was called yellow zone(and also gray zone and red zone). The woman was concerned it would offend east asians. They do not have experience with development and do not understand the history of the terms. Theimpossible1 probably has a point about women in the workplace because of this and I would probably agree to some extent.

The most rabid people participating in this seem to spend more time messaging about their social actovism than making the company profitable. There seems to be a trend where there are positions 40+ yr women occupy that serve as a form of welfare where work requirements are basically nonexistent and the women occupying them priortize increasing their social status rather than getting any work done. These women never get laid off.

It really is a religion. These nonproductive women obsess over it at work. It seems like a religion for a class of people that self segregates and hates normal people.

These companies are using these make-work departments to balance gender in the work force. There aren't enough female coders and engineers in the world, so tech companies are flooding all of their HR, social media, community management, and management departments with women. Not because women are well-suited to those jobs, but because those are the only jobs women (in number) can do. The end result is that these departments are becoming overly feminized, and this is only exacerbated by the excess of useless liberal arts degrees accompanying those female employees.

Instead of an HR department that mirrors and serves your primary workforce, you have an HR department staffed by radical feminists seeking to blow company money on their worthless initiatives.

The women in tech are not any better, especially the affirmative action hires they can send you to HR for any reason. I'm so glad I work from home most of the time.

another reason so many tech companies are pushing for diversity is to dissuade labor organization. the less homogeneous the workers, the harder it is for them to find common ground.

I will need to go on the slack channel and look at their bios again. One is a VP of our division that writes blog posts and has department meetings where she gives media training responses. The other i remember who I personally dealt with was overseeing the transition from one monitoring service to another. Her job consisted of scheduling meetings and listening in. She didnt know the products and the migration is now cancelled

yeah this sounds familiar. I think this is just part and parcel with large corporations. there's always incompetents across the organization, a side effect of bureaucracy and the nature of people relationships.

Not 100% sure of welfare but there is this women that her only job is encourage other women to be managers. Another that gives "training" about ticket handling, somehow the class takes 2 sessions but it only takes you about 10 mins to read the rules. Queue management, is this chick that does nothing but give you tickets based on the number of cases each engineer has, we have automatic queue management but we are not using it so that she has a job.

oh wow, I work for a midsize insurance company and there are some positions similar to those jobs i.e. 'training', various government compliance type work that translates to very low work.

I also used to work at one of the aforementioned companies, I moved to a different company in January, and I can also confirm this statement. The amount of women that are doing almost nothing and getting some huge paychecks is unbelievable.

While my current employer is not on the list, it is the same shit. I had to go thru women in management enforced training which are basically a bunch of women that are payed a lot of money to give themselves a pat on the back for doing high school level power points in order to help women in management, although the branch I took the "training" was 80% women including most management.

But Red Hat points out its code-base is so big that mastery of inclusivity will take time

Emphasis mine.

There's no way El Reg did that by accident.

I thought The Register is completely woke and sanitized nowadays. That's why I stopped reading it around 5 years ago.

I may be wrong but Oracle I think donated to Trump in 2016. Even though the company has a reputation of treating engineers like crap I do recommend listening to Larry Ellison the CEO and founder of Oracle, the guy is cool as fuck and gives me some Tony Stark feel.
