If I were to guess based off the rampant hypergamy in the Western countries, if even the average women is getting plastic surgery, then she wants an even better looking man with 50+ qualifications (like money and status) to show off for external validation. Based on my experience with Koreans, many of them have huge self-esteem issues and will go great lengths to maintain that external validation.
So it's mix of Korean folks both being picky af but also having great insecurities about themselves.

It should come as a surprise to no one that South Korea has the same issues as Japan of an aging population and a generation of young girls who are too picky for a Mr. Right or young men who just want out of the marriage court system.
It seems that lower fertility rate may also trend towards a higher female suicide rate, with South Korea leading the female suicide rate (15.4% as of recent) per country. Women are built to raise and nurture kids and if they can't, statistics show that they would rather kill themselves than live alone at old age with a bunch of pets.
