I really like how Steven Crowder refereed to him as "The Former Vice President" since the beginning.
(17:51) "Come on, as if the federal government would really waste time concerning themselves with a random youtube channel [laughs]" When talking about the assassination.
Then immediately, in the next segment he talks about how the federal government brought their full force down on Kyle over the next couple years. Which started happening a very short while after said assassination.
This would most likely be a very long shot in this case, but I would see if she is willing to support you financially, at least a little bit. If it came down to her kicking you out, do everything you need to to find a place to live and get a job to sustain yourself, but also see if she is willing to help out. Be very diplomatic and explain your reasoning for not getting the vaccine and that you will respect her wishes as ruler of the house, and ask if she can help you pay for your own place until you get back on your feet. Go into the conversation with zero the expectation that she will help you in anyway, that should help with any feeling of resentment. It doesn't hurt to simply ask but again, don't expect anything.
I find the music very fitting with the fact the police are wearing yellow vests. For anyone who may not know, the song is Megalith - Agnus Dei and it's from the last mission of Ace Combat 4 where you shoot down Yellow Squadron.
I highly recommend "With the Old Breed" by Eugene Sledge. The book was in part adapted by the mini series "The Pacific". The book details Sledge's time in the marines from when he signed up, to the battle of Peleliu and the battle of Okinawa.
One of the things that struck me about the book was how genuine Sledge seemed to tell his story. He didn't exaggerate or try to make him and his buddies out to be heroes, he simply told his story how it was. I got the sense that he didn't really want to publish this story, but he felt an obligation to do so. Which makes it more impactful because there are plenty of moments in the book where he describes something truly horrid or insane and you believe him.
And if you complain about it your favorite character gets fucked with out of spite.
Yeah, it gets brought up somewhere later in the book. It's been a while since I first read it and I do remember the part about the bug race being "perfect communists" but I don't remember if they were a true hivemind. I think it was more like certain castes of bugs didn't have any value beyond the collective so they just sacrifice themselves.
The book does point out that the bugs are intelligent, enough to use organized maneuvers and to even build spaceships. So it stands to reason that they could form some kind of alliance with the skinnies.
War is just another form of negotiation. Lots of people seem to view it as senseless murder and chaos but there are values in doing battle. The end goal of armed conflict is not to inflict harm on the other side, it is to get them to do what you want. Most commonly it is to get the other side to cede territorial control over to your side but there are many other goals it could be used for. For example, the purpose of the A-Bombs in Japan were not to eliminate military or infrastructure targets, or to simply inflict harm. They were used to force the Japanese to surrender because the US did not want to invade mainland Japan.
The first chapter of the book discusses this a bit. The objectives of the raid were to come in, cause confusion, and damage major infrastructure and utilities. In fact they were told to keep casualties to a minimum. The goal of the attack was to get the skinnies to withdraw their support from the bugs, that's it. The Federation simply used force to get the skinnies to do what they wanted and nothing more.
Something I thought was pretty interesting was the interaction between Johnnie and the civilian doctor at the Federal Building. At the end of the conversation the following words slipped out of the doctor.
"Now if they let medical men run things-"
I won't really spoil anything but later on in the book there is a discussion about technocrats and pseudo-scientists running things in the world's history. This line kind of foreshadows that a bit.
But what I really wanted to point out was the arrogance of this statement. The current government system they have in place has produced the best results out of any government system in history, by every metric. And still you have these elitists thinking they can do a better job despite not being elected or having any knowledge or experience about governance.
Just look at whats going on right now. You have unelected officials like Dr. Fauci and the CDC dictating national policy when they have no business doing so. And look at the mess their "leadership" has created.
First off, LDS do not practice polygamy, they did used to allow it from the mid to late 1800s but only about 20-30% of the Mormon population engaged in the practice. If you look at the historical context you could argue it was allowed from a survivalist perspective. This was around the time the church was victim to state sponsored genocide, look up Missouri Executive Order 44. The Mormons were uprooted from there homes and forced to trek out west which the journey itself caused quite a few deaths. Also important to note was that even at the time, the practice was controversial in the church so they banned it at the end of the 1800's. The church hasn't allowed or practiced polygamy since then and it's a pet peeve of mine when people say they still do.
I have no idea what you are talking about when you say they aid their oppressors through charity so I can't speak to that.
I will say that the political views of church members are influenced by the region where they choose to live. Overall, members will lean to the right but you'll find more liberal members in liberal areas like California. I can't say for certain but I'd also imagine that outside the US you would find more liberal Mormons. I will also admit that from what I've heard, Utah Mormons have some really odd behaviors that are elitist and hypocritical.
However, in more conservative areas such as where I live you'll find plenty of conservative or Trump supporting Mormons. Even the few liberally minded members in my ward are not that far left. I would say they are classically liberal or centrist at most. Bottom line is that you'll get political differences in the church just like you would any other Christian religion so I'm not sure what the point of this post is.
Starship Troopers
I really like the movie but I think the book is even better. It's a great book that explores moral philosophies and civic virtue/duties. I also appreciate that the author Robert Heinlein makes jabs at communism whenever he can. The book was actually on the military reading list for the longest time.
They consider your 90 year grandma that plays Candy Crush to be a gamer.
When they use the term "gamer" they include people who primarily play mobile games which many, including myself, would not consider actual gamers. I believe it was somewhere in the high 90 percent range that mobile games are played by women.
If you are only talking about console and PC gaming then yes, well over 80% of the gamer base are men.
Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Both are great sci-fi shows which will get you 15 seasons of material plus movies to watch. Ignore Stargate Universe though, that show is crap.
When I went to field training there was this one girl who was so weak she could not carry her duffel bag around, someone else had to carry it for her. She could barely scale a 4 foot wall and she could not even pull the slide back on the M9 for pistol qualification. To top it all off she was talking shit about how she got a 96% on her PT test but then my buddy told her "Well, a 96 for you is like a 73 for me so shut the fuck up"
Seeing stuff like that is why I am a firm believer that women do not belong anywhere near any sort of combat roles. Even if you eliminate the double standard, having women in field conditions/combat causes too many problems.
I highly recommend Underwater. I watched it after the EFAP guys were talking about it and I really liked it. It pays homage to other horror movies like Alien without being blatant about it and has some cool Lovecraftian elements. The characters were probably my favorite part of it. They were very likable and made smart choices which doesn't typically happen in horror movies.
The Wheel of Time is going to be an absolute disaster as well. Same kind of casting problems and the showrunner has actually made threats to turn more characters gay if people complain.
Not in today's world
Our right to self defense is already gone. Consider all the evidence/videos in Rittenhouse's favor and it is still taking the jury so long to reach a verdict. What hope does anyone have in a jury trial where things won't be as favorable?
