So, funny story.
A long time ago, I did a weekly-or-so podcast on current events, it was small and had a small audience, which was fine. I had a good time doing it, and who knows, maybe I'll kick it up again someday.
One of my more interesting audience members was someone I'd describe as a Canadian hyper-nationalist who still jived with conservative ideas and found them interesting. But any time the conversation went toward Canada - the government could Do No Wrong and it was in fact, justified, in any move toward Canadian self interest, etc., saw nothing wrong with government owned media monopoly, and so on. We debated here and there but he never really understood the idea that a government could not be trusted to be impartial or unbiased. This was around 2008-2011 or so.
When I see what Trudeau is doing today, I often wonder what this guy would say now. He's more or less gotten what he used to passionately support, and the natural thing has happened - human nature kicks in, the government overreaches, especially once a blatantly self serving person is in power who doesn't mind pulling the levers of power in ways that helps him and hurts his enemies.
I long for the more innocent days when the only she-phrase I was aware of was the dubious 'she-shed' from that one dumb property insurance commercial
Serious question: At what point do real terrorists, not the ginned up fantasy terrorists the left desperately wants, gaze upon the weak, small men being held up as the guardians of the capitol, and start to get ideas about what is now possible if these are the pinnacle of who protects our government?
Have these people put any thought into the long term consequences of what they're as good as screaming for?
I saw the video shortly after it went out, and it struck me how there were literally armored cops coming up the stairwell right behind her, and I have the image burned in my mind's eye of the lead officer looking up toward the door where it happened with a distinct 'WTF are you doing' expression right after Ashli Babbitt fell. They were right freaking there.
'Wah! I was scared! Wah! I killed an unarmed woman and I want validation! Waaaaaaahh'
Holy christ these people are sick freaks
Basically what Divvy just said, on both counts. If you must dispose of your ballot close to election day, shred it.
Voting on election day itself is simply the best, easiest way to protect your rights from being disenfranchised by any number of things - fraud, the rapid pace of current events, your ballot being 'lost' in the mail, acts of God. In my humble opinion, it's not something to take lightly or leave up to needless chance. Make the time to vote on election day, in person. It's worth the inconvenience.
As someone trapped in the Southern Sector of the People's Republic of California,
The most important thing is simply not to mail in your ballot, and retain your copy of your mail in ballot. Do not throw it in the trash, do not shred it, stuff it somewhere in your closet or something. Second most important thing - vote on election day itself, early voting is bullshit and shouldn't be legitimized.
Seconding the folks saying going to patriots.win, they will have more info on what to do/expect in the polling place itself.
Look at all those awards.
This is entertainment to these people. They're having fun.
I'm so glad to know there are people on the ground who know how to convey an image of dignity under fire.
Total. Disgrace. It's like we're watching a live demonstration of exactly what NOT to do in this scenario. Or it could be a perfect example of what happens when a system is controlled by people who are terrified by any whiff of accountability when things get hard. It really feels like all they know how to do is dither, attempt to message their way out of it, and then.. ...hope for the best??
Or just hope the handgrenade detonates in someone else's hand. If it's not their problem they don't care.
Brought to you by the faction that declares they're the only ones who actually care about people.
Tagged as 'news', better described as 'opinion/commentary'. Hoping American Thinker is acceptable unarchived.
A few posts recently and that have popped up over the past year come to mind when I read things like this. I'm far from blackpilled, but it is really hard to not feel.. ..disappointment, as things go on. When it seems really, really clear those in power seem to be making things as difficult as possible for us joe and jane schmucks to clean up while they grab up as much as they can for themselves before attempting to bail - as a big distraction and mis-direction ploy.
I knew things would get bad years and years ago, many of the signs were there - but to foresee the outlines of something that could happen, and then see it start to clarify? It sucks. I mean, it seriously seems like we're being set up for possible race/religious war that'll plague us for decades just so that some blue-blood assholes can feel secure a few months longer in the immediate moment. I'm grateful for the chance to talk to this community, at least. Some of my family see what's going on, others do not. My brother who hated Trump and passionately supported Biden before the election, now has thrown up his arms and declared 'All politicians suck! They all hate the average American! Everybody is out to screw everyone else!' and yet he's doubling down on things as if there is no inflation on the horizon to speak of, no labor shortage, and that the bubble will just keep growing. Impossible to talk to about some things, and we're crossing the line to where it's going to start getting truly destructive.
It all feels unreal, like a demented nightmare world.
She was overtly undermined a month ago with that wave of negative press. I think she was put there as a distraction or to also be the fall guy. Whatever they have in mind it's something else.
Ah, they'll just mash their fingers into both buttons while screeching incoherently. It's worked out so well for them so far!
Something went wrong with my account and it's stuck in an endless 'reset your password' limbo for years. Every time I browse twitter now I have to do it in incognito mode, because of how aggressively twitter attempts to auto-login in spite of me not wanting it to.
Technically this is an opinion piece, but given the, according to the president, 'flawless' nature of the withdrawal and everything we've come to expect from these people, rings with resounding truth. Headline speaks for itself.
And I guarantee you the political and moral cost of allowing any American Citizen to fall into the hands of fundamentalist terrorists is far greater than $2k a head. In some manners it doesn't matter what the costs are - you get these people out and sort out the details later.
It keeps getting worse.
Another story mentioned how one democrat politician was arguing that it 'wasn't sensible' to send troops to extract Americans to escort them to the Airport.
So, they won't go save people for fear of the optics of 'loss of life', seemingly won't secure the outer perimeter of the airport, and when they do get Americans in their hands -not only are they prioritizing foreigners they want the Americans to pay.
What a God-damned shit show. Why can't one of these useless State Department slobs start a donation pool to cover these stupid costs? This should be a no brainer, especially with their lavish salaries.
Guess we're going to see what happens when a bunch of cowards allow a major hostage crisis to unfold right from under them!
Jay Carney wouldn't have been this arrogant. As much as that guy was unbearable he at least really knew and understood what a press secretary was supposed to be. For how terrible the Obama administration was they put in a massive effort to put on a show - Biden's is not even trying. It's just not important to them.
A million times this. It's the biggest thing that stands out to me about the Biden administration that sets them apart from most others - there is no Leader. It's a bunch of connected political hacks pursuing their own private agendas, and the lack of a figure to rally around is seen as a feature.
It was pretty laughable he wasn't even willing to field softball questions after the signals went out that was the plan. Relies on the media to do all their smokescreens, can't even give them much material to work with.
This is how our government behaves with the 'adults' back in charge, huh?
I am beyond done with people whining about how Trump 'wasn't presidential' or some other nonsense about how they just wanted things to go back to normal, or lamenting how divisive things were during the Trump years. This was laughably predictable, and the biggest thing the White House is concerned about right now is a lame attempt at damage control and making sure no one takes responsibility. 'The buck stops with me' my ass, Biden, you can't say that and then blame the mistakes of your predecessors for the current mess.
I hope so called 'centrists' and Democrats are happy with the regime they helped propel into office. They're going to get to see what real harm the apathy of selfish, arrogant people can inflict on the world. I hate saying things like this but at this rate we deserve what we're going to get.
They can't even be bothered to try to spin this with any coherency. No charm, no real attempts at persuasion, just 'this is how its gonna be' and buh-bye. I wonder if the media will ever be annoyed by the fact the president just expects them to handle all the damage control for him?
More or less, and it was kinda obvious based on the signaling in the news back in the summer (possibly sooner) that The Powers That Be wanted very badly to be able to flip the 'Lockdown' switch at will.
It was whenever Joe was talking about covid on the campaign trail that it was very clear what they wanted. The virus will come back whenever they think it helps them domestically, and that's that. They don't seem to care that there are ploys that you can only really get away with once, and they really don't care how much trust in government has been burned since this began. It may as well be a bonus feature for them at this point.
Fear is addictive for people who don't care to look into current events too deeply, and I just hope enough average democrat voters wake up from this indulgence that they can start agitating for reform in their party. That would be the happier way for this to resolve, but I don't know if it will happen quickly enough. They're the ones who are really missing in the discussion.
The moment he said it I had to do a double take, because the loose frame of that argument (2nd amendment is about militias and not a check on government power, because why no private sector nukes or F-15s?) is literally what was being argued by liberals on Digg circa 2007.
It's an old canard. They're trying to make the other side look silly by throwing down an outrageous form of the argument when they don't even understand what they're arguing about. More than anything I think Joe was just trying to soothe his supporters and was giving them something 'easy' to chew on to make them happy. No thought behind it, just a reflex fallback to something he heard before that he thought sounded good.
I was regularly debating the left on Digg back then and it was tedious as hell. Someone making that sort of argument tends to want to fall back on moral superiority - 'your position is so ridiculous, obviously mine is the right one.'
Somebody who can't be assed to take a proper selfie, apparently
