Borrow.

Seriously. If you have the ability, borrow money.

We're operating under unusual circumstances here. We have sustained inflation but interest rates are still very low. Under those conditions, it's actually wise to borrow money if you are able to qualify for a traditional fixed rate mortgage.

Nah, I don't recall saying anything like that.

'Sides, if it's on mah land, I can jist sheut it.

What is there to spend money on?

All I've got left is paying off mortgage debt at an accelerated rate.

And if you're waiting to take out a loan, DON'T WAIT, inflation means you're better off borrowing money now before rates and prices go up.

We need a Bering Straits rail bridge.

It's technically possible, the maximum depth of the straits is barely 60 meters. We build oil rigs much deeper already.

It's an old /v theory from way back about the elevator.

Basically, the Lighthouse is off the coast of Maine. Columbia proper is parked over the coast of Nova Scotia, and Shantytown is Halifax (there is a lot of gold and coal mining in that region and has been since the 1880's).

This was a two month stop-gap. The Assembly went into special session to debate redistricting.

This was an extra bill they threw in. It had to be simple enough to clear without any opposition from the commerce committee, because there would be only one day to get it passed.

The Iowa GOP acknowledges it isn't enough, but they didn't have time in special session to do a more comprehensive bill, that will have to wait until January.

A start is a start.

The Assembly was in special session for redistricting. That they got another bill in AT ALL required that the bill be simple and uncontroversial to get enough votes on the first try, cuz they were only gonna get one swing at it. There wasn't going to be support to extend the session another day when the maps were the only reason they were in session at all.

The GOP is aware that it doesn't go far enough and will take another swing at it in January during the normal session.

Moses came up the mountain, got the commandments, then looked up and said, "And ..."

(thunderous voice from the sky) "And what?"

'"What's in it for me?"

Ordinarily I'd be all against total rewrites.

But I've always thought that having Channi be Stilgar's daughter would make Stilgar's rebellion against Alia in Children make a lot more sense because he'd be Leto and Ghanima's grandfather and would be fighting Alia to protect Ghanima.

A female Kynes makes that plausible.

I'll rephrase...

Kynes' traits are inconsequential.

It's the things the character DOES that are significant.

Kynes doesn't... really matter too much. I get the sentiment, but if you were going to adapt Dune and pick an inconsequential character to rewrite, that's the one.

Up till now, that left the TV mini-series, which we generally don't talk about

I actually liked the TV series and think that with a larger VFX budget it would have been fine. I liked that they kept Feyd's attempt against the Baron.

As it is, I put it in the same bin as Babylon 5: "good, but clearly dated".

Yes, and that was years ago. It's continued to fall.
