Indeed. While some people have talked about 4chan being compromised by glowies, the attitude of the site and much of the culture of it's various boards certainly hasn't changed, which is why I would at least partially disagree.
I do remember voat a fair bit. I think in many ways it was a forerunner to scored, even if I do remember the shutdown fairly well. And I can understand why it had to shut down due to financial issues.
Yes, you're pretty much right.
I will say there are advantages to having a smaller userbase, as unhelpful as that can be. Being unappealing to the wider market does mean that fewer people will want to shit up the site, as well as making sure the site is less likely to get attacked by external parties. I think that a lot of right-wing hotspots like this will crop up, and generally do fairly good for their niche when preferring to keep a lower profile. Scored hasn't made any major headlines, and I think a lot of outsiders just see it as a site made for people who wanted to flee reddit (just like the cringetopia site) and little else.
For more relevant things to your conversation, I should mention 8chan I think had been doing fairly well before hotwheels turned on his users, and 8kun had appealed to far too small a niche (Basically, the 0.5% instead of the 10%), one which is no longer considered meaningful in the 2020s. I think the webring that formed in light of both is mostly going at a similar pace to scored of a few small communities and several dead ones.
I think that if they sanitised 4chan to push all the non-pozzed people off of it, then the site would lose relevance fast, and people would just migrate to another 8chan.
I feel like it's better if we just give Shadows the silent treatment for now, and see what the sales numbers say in a few weeks time so that it doesn't subsist off of the discussion. Good thing I played Yasuke simulator today, certainly worth the money.
I don't know much about this new prime minister guy. But for now, I will see how he plays out, since I have vague memories of other decent people on this sub saying some minor praise about him.
Another thing that is annoying is that this prime minister brings up the problems that mass tourism is causing Japan and yet he isn't closing the borders.... like why. ?
I don't know if he has the power to do that. And even then, I think halting immigration wouldn't do much about tourists. At the very least, I don't think he would approve of Johnny Somali.
I think it's also worth a mention that Baldur's gate is often used as an example of a woke game that actually did well, usually as a rebuttal to people complaining about modern audience bullshit. But I think that they often forget that things like at least leaving some wiggle room like that is partly to credit why it's still done well, among other things, while Starfield and Veilshart are forgotten.
Even then, I would say it succeeded in spite of the wokeness instead of because of it, and it at least did enough right to succeed.
On top of that, it's also kind of gone the other way in that some studios keep feeling that they will be compared to BG3 and often blame it's success as being too high a bar to measure up to, and fear that they will be compared to that bar, to the point of sometimes blaming their game failure on it. I saw the devs for VTMB2 do this.
But regardless, I think we can agree that Larian at least had to be doing something right to get to the level of acclaim that this game did.
Indeed, you're saying the truth here. I think there was another thread explaining why the "Anime Right" (as they put it) is considered by them to be superior to the "Tradcon Right" and generally more willing to take action against bullshit, and I feel they might agree with a fair number of your points. As much as people might consider them losers, I certainly don't.
Wait a minute, OP didn't clarify this, but the title is suggesting that they didn't make this themselves and they found somebody else posting this somewhere. Can we get clarification from them that that's the case?
If not, feel free to ignore my post.
You think it could blow up in their faces?
I don't know if only that first proposed step would cause enough of a problem for Keir Stamer, but I think if they just flat out ban the internet in favor of having everyone be stuck on legacy TV and streaming services, then there would be so many people upset that I think it would result in backlash.
I wouldn't say it's worth it. In fact, I think I saw someone on twitter suggest that us talking about how woke this game is is exactly what the developers wanted - and said person seems to be the kind of person who would probably agree with a lot of this board.
I've only heard about it, not really interested in playing it. I've noticed it's done well, at least by the standards of other woke slop, but even then, I don't think I'm really interested.
Though I will note that I have heard that it might be trying to ride the "All publicity is good publicity" saying for all it's worth, by making people like us complain about it.
Not in the slightest. Sure, I don't know if he's having enough effect on DEI (which is rapidly evolving to rebrand itself now that he has taken office and DOGE is waging war on it) and I get that he might be too deeply in israel's pockets for some to legitimately support, but he's been doing a fantastic job thus far.
At this point, I think it's even spread to outside trump supporters.
In fact, I think it also lead to a general distaste for Journalists as a whole, with them all being seen as one of the lowest of professions in the modern era.
He should definitely keep at it, at least. I think that there's a good chance of more long term impact against everything that's been hounding us for the past decade or so the more he does.
On top of that, I think we should at least take some time to enjoy it while he is around, even if there are a few scrapes here and there like Kingdom come deliverance.
The fact that you're suggesting that as a punishment shows just how awful it is.
