Unfortunately, you don't vote for the lesser evil, you also still get evil, and even more of it.

Th Founding Fathers made several assumptions about future politicians that were unfortunately unrealistic in hindsight. First, that the world wouldn't evolve to a point where being a politician could become a full time job for life. They were all farmers, land owners, businessmen, military leaders, inventors, etc. And it took weeks to take a carriage to hold a Congress, debate some stuff, and then go home to tend to their real jobs. They didn't envision that Philadelphia (later DC) would become the nexus for people wielding power over a continent that can be enacted seconds from when the decisions are made.

They also envisioned that personal or group ambitions would keep each other in check. Separation of powers was designed with the assumption that the President would want to keep power away from Congress and the Court, Congress would want to keep power from the President and Court, and the Court would want to keep power from the President and Congress. In addition to individuals Congressmen and Presidents wanting to amass personal power, which others wanting to do the same thing would try to stymie them. Gridlock was supposed to be a feature built into the system.

In that same vein, they also didn't picture the idea of States no longer being separate political and cultural bodies to be something that would or could happen. They saw Virginians as Virginians, New Yorkers and New Yorkers, etc and imagined that the representatives from the several States would always seem themselves a citizens of their State first and foremost. They didn't picture all of them deciding that they were actually one big group of elites, and the people of all the States were equally all of their enemies. We can thank the tyrant Lincoln for destroying the idea of State identity and sovereignty.

Lastly, and most simply, many of them were just better men then the stock we have around now. Religion was an intrinsic part of their lives, yes that includes all the so called deists and agnostics that many of the Founding Fathers have now been retconned into being. The idea of personal honor, moral fiber, a Higher Authority holding them accountable, were all things that were part of life for them. And even for the elite back then, life was still hard. The wealthy Virginian plantation owner was still shitting outside in the cold like the rest of the population. No running water, no electricity, no antibiotics, no artificial heat or cold, and so on. Life was brutal and involved a lot of manual labor and pain no matter how rich you were. That sort of life breeds an appreciation for hard work, personal reward for personal risk and expenditure, a respect for nature and fellow man. Our politician class is composed almost entirely of Ivy League socialites from old money families with connections who haven't been exposed to hardship a day in their lives. It's one of the things they hate about Trump so much. Being sent to military school, having to make or break himself in the world of business, never having been part of the Harvard or Yale clubs, etc. He's had to work, fail, been screamed at by superiors and all the rest. Still unimageable luxury compared to the rest of us, but he's downright plebian in the eyes of the Harvard and Yale types.

"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." - John Adams

The modern US is neither of those things. The system must break down.

I'm genuinely curious how ResetEra still exists. At this point they must have banned a measurable percentage of the global population.

Now it's a bit reversed. The importance of those things above have decreased, and Democrats are in many ways the cultural and corporate establishment that people want to rebel against. Democrats were the ones responsive for COVID lockdowns, vaccine mandates, and for better or worse being 'woke' and/or pushing identity politics. Trump is the chaos agent who wants to shake things up, which is attractive to young men who feel disaffected from the system.

This guy is gonna be on the chopping block next. That's a little too close to the mark for ReeeesetEra.

Some men just don't want women to have rights, you can't meet them halfway

Hilarious, but they are fulfilling their own prophecy through their actions. If you would have asked me 10 years ago if women should have the same rights as men, I would have absolutely said yes. Women have ironically taught me themselves that they shouldn't.

That thread is useful and illuminating though, especially if you're still one of those "can't we all just get along"/"leftists are just uniformed" types. Maybe 60 years ago the divide between Democrat and Republican was that they both wanted a successful America, they just had different ideas on how to get there (I'm unconvinced the leftist leaders even back then actually wanted that though). But the divide between right and left is absolutely different and in stark contrast now. We fundamentally want different things. It's not simply a matter of education or getting them out of their echo chambers or exposing them to different views. Maybe for a lot of default-left normies that is the case, but there is a subpopulation of the left, and I would argue it's at least 10 million strong if not considerably more, that can never be brought to our side. Their entire idea of self is built around a worldview and morality that is antithetical to every single thing we believe and want. Like fish vs. land animals, immerse one in the other's environment too long and it will just kill them. You can't "educate" a cat to be able to breath underwater. The ocean isn't just an echo chamber to a fish, it's their whole world and they need it to survive. "Expose them to an alternative idea" like throwing them on land, and they're not going to just learn to not be fish anymore.

There is a big portion of our national population that can never be convinced to ever be anything other than what they are. And what they are happens to be the most toxic poison, ionizing radiation, corrosive acid to the world we want to live in. We can't coexist with them, agree to disagree, "just get along", or exist in the same space with them. As long as we exist, they will try to destroy us and our world. It's in their nature to do so and it cannot be changed.

The real war between right and left now is akin to an alien species invading our planet and trying to convert the atmosphere into something like a helium/argon atmosphere because that's what they need to survive. It's gonna have to come down to one surviving and other being destroyed utterly.

Israel is not the only country that has an army of online shills, nor paid groups in western countries doing their bidding behind the scenes while publicly claiming to be for some other issue. China of course is a big one, but Mohammedan nations like Iran, Saudi Arabia and Qatar do it too. What we're seeing is what happens when the various sockpuppet groups and causes are being called to task by their handlers in both Tel Aviv as well as Tehran, Doha, etc. They can pretend to be on the same side for a lot of things, but when it comes down to a topic that really matters to their respective paymasters, like Israel vs. Palestine, that's when we start seeing some internal sparks fly. It's quite entertaining tbh.

While he can't do that, what he actually can do is slow-walk or outright pause practically everything. A great example is when Texas passed the Texas Suppressor Freedom Bill, which states that suppressors designed, manufactured, and sold in Texas only to Texas citizens made with Texas materials must be exempt from the Interstate Commerce Clause, and thus outside of the ATFs purview. The ATF immediately sued of course, and last update was that a Federal judge tossed the case as there was no injured party yet.

A based ATF director could order his agency to simply concede all suits brought against the NFA, GCA, etc. ATF lawyers walk into the court and on day 1 just tell the judge "we concede the case to Texas (or whoever) and ask that you rule in their favor. We will offer no testimony, evidence, or documentation against any of the plaintiff's claims".

Open season on any provision of federal gun control for any state AG to make a case, with the assumption that the feds won't even try to argue in their own favor.

Probably would have ended up being Desantis. He was looking pretty decent back before he tried to steal the spotlight from Trump. Of course now we know what we know about him, but back then we didn't. And with Trump in office, he would have bided his time for another 4 years without revealing the dagger.

Because JK Rowling is and always has been a radical leftist and feminist. Just because precisely one and only one of her views happen to align with ours, and that only because she is such an extreme feminist that she hates the queers taking any power or spotlight from women, does not make her on our side and never will. She's an enemy that happened to fire one round at one of our enemies by coincidence. It doesn't make her an ally.

Anime is literally just an animation style. If you're Western, you probably grew up with certain ideas of what animation is for and what it's not. At the end of the day, fictional media is just that. Fictional media. It can be a slasher horror story, heroic knights vs. dragons, college students getting into hilarious hijinks just before graduation, two mid 30s single adults finding loving with each other, and anything and everything in between. The difference between East and West is that in the West we grew up with animated fiction being used to tell fictional stories to children, and live action fiction being for adults, so that attitude tends to carry over to how Western people look at all animation. In the East, that doesn't happen. Their cultures don't put live action vs animation into boxes like that based on who its for. They have just as much animated media that's mean for adults as they do for children. To them, it's just another way of telling a story.

Western audiences got caught in a self-reinforcing loop where they were taught Media Style A is for Audience X and Media Style B is for Audience Z. They grow up with that, so when some of them go on to be writers, directors, actors, artists, etc in media, they do the same thing since it's what they know, which teaches the next generation the same thing, and the cycled went on. We think of cartoons as being for kids because that's who they were made for when we were kids, but the adults who made those cartoons made them for us because they grew up reading Silver Age comics which were also made for kids, and so on. Look back 20 years to when Family Guy or South Park were made, or 30 years to when Simpsons was at its peak. An animated show that was adult friendly was a massive outlier, and many of those still had to play the kid-friendly thing for a long time because Westerners see "animation=for children".

But that never happened in Japan. No one was ever taught "this is for kids, and this isn't. Don't mix them", so no one grew up believing that, so they never went on to make it like that, and the cycle of media-styles being for whatever you want it to be continued for them. They have comic books and cartoons with adult characters in adult situations made for adults and written word novels made for children (literacy is also much higher in Japan, so totally written word novels with little to no pictures, but for children, is normal). They don't distinguish the delivery method for a story being based on who the intended audience is for.

Things are changing a bit though, as more westerners have sought out anime because it's one of the last places to get quality story and characters. As Western media in all forms; live action, cartoons, comics, novels, etc all turn to shit because of the woke mind virus, some westerners have been seeking out any form of fictional media that still has good stories with good characters and aren't made as propaganda. And anime has been chugging along this whole time being just that because the Eastern cultures that make it were making hundreds of kinds of it for all ages and groups. They even have sub-names for kinds of anime based on who its made for. There are some anime that are for kids. Shojo and Shounen anime are meant for child girls and child boys, like Western cartoons. But they also have Josei and Seinen anime which is specifically made for adult women and adult men. To them, a Seinen anime show is no different than something like Star Trek DS9 or Breaking Bad, just animated. The fact it's drawn instead of using live actors just isn't a factor for them like it has been for westerners.

"The cloud" has always meant "someone else's computer", and all that someone else can do with stuff stored on their computer whether it's "yours" or not.

You're describing how high school clubs work.

If you're implying that a high school student council doesn't wield unlimited power, then that means I've been lied to by slice of life anime for years, and that's a reality I'm not prepared to accept.

It's not discouragement. It's a shake up in where payments are coming from. With the collapse of the Cumala campaign, all of the shady non-profits and private foundations laundered leftist money snakes its way through are being reorganized or shuttering their doors to make way for new ones. That's the purpose of having so many cut-outs and middleman organizations to filter illegal money through. When one loses its usefulness, it can be closed up and vanish like food in a communist nation. Reddit power mods are all paid by those organizations to do what they do. The money tap is cut off while the shake up is taking place. They'll get right back to it once the left is done closing down their 2024 campaign cutouts and sets up their "sue Trump for everything and anything" foundations.
