Everyone is assumed to be a morbidly obese white male neckbeard eating Cheetos while sitting at a computer in his mother's basement until they claim otherwise. Then they're an attention whore, which is worse.

Sorry. You've officially been demoted.

Yeah I agree. Looks like the Snes version with a filter.

That's the thing. It can be whatever ones you want.

Never really got why someone would want to play FF on mobile anyway, but then, a lot of smartphone gaming doesn't make any sense to me.

Also, side note I disagree that the backgrounds look better in the mobile version of FFVI, they look very "high school art class" to me cheap and lazy like the sprite work. PSP FFIV Art looks great, why is the UI so ugly though? Those fonts are all over the place...

Read both a long time ago.

Friendship is optimal is fairly interesting as it is a long form work about a paperclipping scenario, and a fairly early one at that. It actually probably works a bit better if you don't like MLP as the padded cell where you will never want for anything, and the resulting insipidness of such an existence is brought into sharper relief. Kind of old hat these days if you're already versed on paperclippers though.

Hpamor was okay I think. You kind of have to accept that it's largely a snarky takedown of Harry Potter's world building. I liked it's take on the character of Draco Malfoy and his father. The battle scenarios were fun if kind of silly. It gets up its own ass a lot, but I wouldn't dismiss it as a waste of time to read. I have fond memories of it.

As for LessWrong, I never interacted with the community, but I read some of the articles, and they are a mix of insightful computer science research and a the texts of a AI doomsday cult.

There was also Twilight fanfic of a similar nature I read around the same time which I also quite enjoyed, despite never having read Twilight. Of course being Twilight making the character more intelligent makes her less of a Mary Sue. Luminosity was the name I think.

I'm pretty convinced it's C. But I really don't have any evidence...

Yep. You can buy the thing sealed in mint condition on eBay for less than 5000$ and it's not particularly rare.

So either: A) Some rich dude has decided a fancy box protector is worth over one million dollars.

B) This is Money Laundering

C) This is WATA and Heritage Auctions shifting items between themselves in an attempt to drive Interest, prestige and Prices for their goofy rating system.

Didn't someone make a parody of this where she instead gets turned on by it and fucks the street sharks?

Edit: Yes they did. It's more the teenager from Dinosaurs, not a street shark though.

Very NSFW, but she's also drawn much more attractively so it's not eye gouging horrible. Artist is BubblegumRising, also did "New Guy" porn. Weird, but I suppose complete and total irreverence is probably the best response to SJW Art.

Soon, you will be racist for pointing out that throwing random Japanese words into English sentences haphazardly is cringe, because who's to say they aren't transjapanese and you are being disrespectful to their true genuine self.

Of course, you were already racist, so does it really matter?

Have to agree with the rest of the posters here. Money and infrastructure. Most software can wait. The most important thing is to have a network that isn't controlled by current governments capable of linking and interfacing without using things like domain names. Make it really easy to route around damage.

Next is money. For fairly obvious reasons. Mastercard is up there in terms of cooperations ranked on readiness to take over a large chunk of the world.

Wouldn't think of it.

As am I.

Violence is the prime authority from which all other authority is derived the only difference is that in really just the past 60 years it was implicit violence rather than explicit violence. Now we are returning to explicit violence.

May your conquerors have mercy upon you.

I feel you. I've lived in the same place my whole life. Middle of the woods, walk in most directions for miles without seeing any civilization except for crossing the occasional road, railway or power lines. But I can see it approaching from the south. Towns get bigger, and I think more and more about just heading North. At least I am far enough north that it keeps out those accustomed to warmer climates, but the specter of an increasingly authoritarian government leaves me hoping more and more that the government continues to neglect my area of the world rather than hold out any optimism that some day the rampant alcoholism, poverty, and drug abuse are solved.

Fair enough. They're just the big pacifist church near where I live. In any case, I understand your religious objections, I suppose it's a fundamental disagreement about prime movement in the universe. I believe your view would cause the world to collapse into violent disorder, you believe my views are irrelevant because they are nothing to the will of God.

I am a disappointment to your god, and you are a disappointment to mine. If it truly is God's will that the world descend into chaos, and we are all killed, then I'd rather die with a gun in my hands fighting to defend everything I loved.

In my perspective I am also evaluated on what I do. The strengths I build. Not what I suffer. In this life, I should be the best that I can be to protect those closest to me, and inspire the same strength of body and mind in them as well. To sit on my hands and do nothing when I could have protected others? That would be the disappointment.

I must constantly strive for more knowledge, more skill at my crafts, more fitness of the body, including preparedness to attack or defend with both strategy and athleticism.

You a witness? You sound like one.

An intruder invades your house. What do you do? Run? Do you have a family? Do you abandon them to the intruder's whims? Where do you run to? Somewhere safe? Like a police station? No, because the safe places are only safe because of authority and the violence implicit in defying that authority. Maybe you run out into the woods. Unfortunately the violence of man is restrained and measured compared with the violence of the wild and wolves can run faster than you.

You are a coward and a fool, and if you aren't willing to exert threat of violence, then you will always be the slave of someone who will. There will always be violence enacted on your behalf or against you.

Condone violence, or condone every abuse conceivable to be brought against you.

You are facing the wall. Everyone you've ever cared about is facing the wall next to you. Remember "God didn't promise you anything in this life." and thus you justify your own death, the deaths of children, and justness of the coming dictatorship, because to resist would require violence.

You are pushed into a mass grave, and forgotten by history. But at least you went to the grave feeling morally superior to your killers.

It is you who don't fathom existence without the comforts of modernity. Do you think that violence hasn't been more necessary than it is now throughout all of human history? Bandits, pirates, train robbers? Where did they go? They are no more because the violence that would be wrought upon them was to great to take the risk. If we abandon violence these people will return until we take up arms again.

They are already returning. What are the "defund the police" and "mostly peaceful riots" but examples of the threat of violence from the state fading to be replaced by the threat of violence from someone else.

If you are not willing to be violent, someone else will be.

That's nice, but what if he has a beef with you? Convert or die. Now he says go blow up the infidels? Break your principles and fight him, break your principles and blow up the infidels. Keep your principles and die on your knees having changed nothing forgotten by history as the world burns in violent conflict.

How is Vintage Story? Mostly looks like modded minecraft. Is it on a pace where the feature set would eclipse a moderately modded minecraft experience?

9
Eltrion 9 points ago +9 / -0

And what would you oppose the violent with? Harsh words?

A pacifist is a coward that hides behind the strength of others, chastising those who would fight as morally inferior to himself, ignorant of the fact that his nonviolence is only permissible because others are violent on his behalf.

I sincerely hope you never have to learn the hard way that all the harsh words and feelings of moral superiority, won't stop an antifa blackshirt, a Chinese communist, an Islamic extremist, or a feral raider as he is in the process of bashing the teeth out of your skull.

If a pen is mightier than the sword, it is only because the pen can inspire many swords.

It's okay, I'm sure there's about to be an explosion of Renaissance Fairs after the covid restrictions are lifted, creating an unprecedented demand for medieval puppet masters.

I spent over 200$ on a 256GBSSD a decade ago, and just as much on a 20GB bigfoot a decade before that. Hard drives are up a bit, but this is far from an all time high.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that he was just pointing out that the shoulder joint stays in the same place even if muscle increases. As far as function goes, really the only important difference is that mens are larger and bulkier and have the additional strength and leverage that comes along with that. Not really a big surprise.
