Really resonating with the comments in this thread. Ever since I graduated college and got my first real person job, I have more than enough money to buy what I need and even what I want. Anything else, unless someone manages to come up with something I really like that I wasn't aware existed, is just useless consumerism and likely something that will just sit in my closet collecting dust.
This has in turn made giving physical gifts to other adults very difficult for me; I figure anyone else who isn't living paycheck to paycheck might feel similarly. So I kind of just tend towards experiences and time spending now. I'll take my parents out to dinner at a nice restaurant instead of giving something they don't need. Stuff like that.
Also, unwritten rules like "for X occasion, getting a gift around $Y is the norm" can go get fucked. It's all so tiring. My brother asked me once what I was getting my cousin for her wedding and then got irritated when I told him. Nothing fancy, just a check for a lot more money than he expected. The notion that people do this shit to keep up appearances and play the game instead of because they genuinely love the person and want to help them is so foreign to me.
I am single, so no wife and kids to spend on, and my expenses are low. So in my opinion there's nothing wrong with spending some extra money on family members I love, even if it makes some people butthurt that I'm breaking unwritten rules and making them look bad. I wrote my little cousin a fairly large check and wrote a very heartfelt note to her for her graduation party, and hearing separately from both her and her father that she cried while reading it and her telling me I'm like the brother she never had is worth infinitely more to me than some extra money sitting in a bank account.
I'm only in my late 20s, but I feel like I'm becoming a grumpy old man already. Just consistently frustrated that most people can't seem to get their priorities straight and focus on things that really matter.
Is it based, or is it just normal? I'm hesitant to call something based if it is just merely "not ridiculously cucked."
I know I shouldn't be surprised about it, but I absolutely despise them over there. Locked the post and deleted all the comments. But it was open season when all the white knight virtue signalers were piling on despite it being obvious to anyone with a brain there was at least a reasonable chance he was innocent.
Edit: wow they caved and unlocked the thread. Were getting reamed over it in the general thread (which I also added to). Probably saw many people flocking to r/mlb. They're still giga cucks and fuck that sub and the whole site.
Wouldn't be shocked if he had one or two bad starts early on while still adjusting and redditards used it to gloat as if a pitcher still decently young and not far removed from a Cy Young wouldn't do well in Japan.
The NFL is a shitty product.
The NFL will engineer entire games based on one or two questionable holding or pass interference calls that no one will talk about a week later. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like it's been really bad over the past several years, and I don't feel like college football is consistently as bad. That being said, both are surely a waste of time.
Couldn't agree more. To this day, ya'll annoys me the most.
Regarding ad hominem, the funny part is how the retards more often than not didn't know what it meant. If I call someone a retard, and that is completely independent of the actual argument I'm making, it has nothing to do with the ad hominen fallacy. It is only ad hominem if one says you are retarded, therefore I'm correct.
Yep. Feminism gave women the ability to roll around in the proverbial mud like pigs if they so wish. Unfortunately many of them don't realize that this doesn't mean they should actually do so.
How retarded. Plenty of great replies already so there's not much need to weigh in, but I need a break from work right now so I'll do it anyway.
if men valued fertility, why are underweight women preferred over chubby women
The percentage of women that are actually underweight is extremely low. In all likelihood she is really whining "why do men prefer women at a healthy weight over morbidly obese women???"
why do they want completely hairless women
Not even true generally speaking. And the ones that do, this is learned behavior from watching too much porn. Completely different than something that is an evolutionarily ingrained desire.
Why do idiots who say that shit about fertility go for teens instead of 25-yo women who will definitely have a better pregnancy?
Just completely false all around. Where is this evidence that 25 year old women have better pregnancies than teens? All the evidence I have ever seen suggests a peak shortly after puberty that levels off and slowly drops until mid twenties when it begins to drop more steeply before absolutely plummeting. This also mirrors studies that I have seen that attempt to quantify what age women men truly find most attractive.
why don't men like sporty strong women
They do, unless she is trying to imply professional body builder tier. And even if she is, it doesn't do anything to further her argument. Multiple things can be prioritized at once. Fertility is absolutely a huge factor, but men have a desire to protect that is drawn out more by women that are smaller and weaker than them. It just so happens that a muscle bound woman does not stroke that urge. This does zero to refute the notion that men, both consciously and unconsciously, care a lot about fertility.
Men like weakness in women, that's the only thing they want
Wrong, albeit the least wrong thing this retard said in that paragraph of nonsense. Men enjoy a relative physical weakness when comparing their woman to themselves due to the aforementioned desire to protect and provide. But a woman can be physically and mentally strong relative to other women with zero negative effects, and often great positive effect, on her attractiveness in the eyes of most men.
Honestly it confounds me how people go through life being so fucking wrong so fucking much on things so fucking simple as this.
Chubsey here misses the cut.
Come on now that's a bit harsh, surely she could be a good meat shield at least?
Haven't so much as glanced at that place in at least 4 years and the mere mention of it is still enough to piss me off. Honestly those people are just as bad if not worse than leftists. I know I know, controlled opposition and all. That can be said of the people at the top, but the type of person that is a general commenter there does actually exist in the outside world. Those retards walk among us.
Couldn't care less.
Sorry to be that guy.
You guys don't get it, we're not LITERALLY pagan because our only transcendental value is saving the planet. Mother Nature is a useful SYMBOL, we don't believe in Her per se, just as a way to convey our unquestionable duty to the climate and environment. Humans have no special place on this planet, therefore it is imperative that we use all of our reason (which came from nowhere) and economic capacity (which was built on imperialism) to save the planet, and this makes sense to us. In fact, fewer humans would be better for the Planet, even though we don't believe in some sort of non-human consciousness that would benefit. Things would just be better for everything. Which is ultimately meaningless but necessary to the point of human suffering for its sake.
(Written by a friend of mine when I sent this to him)
Hell, even any man who hasn't had one. Basically, any man in California at all. And, to be honest, not just California. I live in a state that leans red and I'm confident a woman I've never met before could ruin my life with a random accusation. Even if I never get charged with anything, and even if my core friends and most of my family backs me up, I'm confident something like that could strongly impact my life in a negative way.
Worry not, comrade. 52 is only racist when paired with 13!
“I care more about dead bodies than buildings”
They probably don't even know who Sequoia Turner and David Dorn are.
Yeah the typesetting skills in some of those fan groups put official localizations to shame. I understand people wanting to throw money at the "official" version when there is an easy way to do so, but personally the effort and quality on official anime localizations are so piss poor compared to groups of dudes doing it for free as a passion project in their mom's basement in 2005 that it is hard for me to conclude that they deserve anything at all. Anyone who wants to support the show can buy the source material if they want; more probably goes to them than if you pay a monthly sub to Crunchyroll anyway.
I owe so much to those old fansubs. The way they would sub the openings and endings with the Japanese, romanized Japanese, and English translation really gave me a great boost starting learning back in the day. Official localizations don't tend to do that now but it used to be common.
I see, fair enough. If/when season 3 comes out, it will be bonkers if the studio maintains the level of quality, so I would recommend considering to give it another shot then. Rudy's progress is pretty gradual and the volumes season 3 would adapt are perhaps the best in the series.
I heard the second season was trash though. I loved the original back when it aired but still haven't seen the second season.
Just curious how far did you get into MT?
Mushoku Tensei hands down. I will never forget binging the audiobooks in August 2020. Absolute blast. When season 3 comes and adapts LN volume 15 I can finally die happy.
Also Eminence in Shadow was fabulous. S2 next season if I recall. Isekai Ojisan was way better than I thought. Ended up buying the manga.
EDIT: I didn't know there was an SAO game. Is it good?
What is so controversial in this post that warrants the downvotes? I live in Ohio and the contrast when crossing the river is pretty stark. Less so going into Kentucky, but the difference is there. Would be more productive if the people who downvoted came in with counterpoints.
Depends what you consider to be mainstream. Shin Sekai Yori is awesome, but might be mainstream enough? Depends if you mean mainstream among normies or mainstream among people who watch a lot of anime.
If you mean the latter, I enjoyed Tsukuyomi Moon Phase recently. The vast majority probably won't really like it, but I went in with sub zero expectations and the atmosphere it created was something I liked to the point where it's gotten me to read the manga, so that's gotta be worth something.
Even on plebbit, the hive of scum and and villainy that it is, wasn't freaking out about the Mushoku Tensei episode this past week from what I saw. You had to get pretty deep and into downvoted comments to find it.
Fucking thank you. You are always the MVP of these threads.
