Ryan Coogler maybe caught lightning with Creed and Black panther was the most average movie ever that got praise because it was basically an all black cast. That's it. The plot made no sense. The inner rules of wakanda also made no sense. The villain made no sense. Black panther being the Black panther before they actually agreed on a new one made no sense. And back to Creed, the movie shits on Apollo Creed by retconning him into a philandering fatherer of a bastard. The irony of a black pride director turning an actual good black role model into just another deadbeat black father is hilarious.
It stole it and managed to do everything worse in a non-sensical way.
At least Dusk 'Til Dawn had an AWESOME lead-up to the bar, and the final showdown was balls-to-the-walls action.
Sinners had none of that.
The final "action" sequence in Sinners didn't even make a lot of sense -- when the barn doors opened all of the human survivors should have been overwhelmed and died immediately since they had nothing to really protect them. And then for some odd reason all the vampires ran out of the barn when they had the superior numbers?
So much of that film made no logical sense at all.
Real Life Fake Wizard tore it a new one for not allowing itself any amount of sincerity that wasn't immediately punctuated with snark or mean spirited self deprecation as if the entire production crew were embarrassed of the source material.
I have no idea if it's any good as I have no intention of seeing it or pretty much anything else this summer except for maybe the Street Fighter movie.
