The image of the Jaws poster, but... modified just manifested in my mind's eye.

Just what Epic Games needs: a parent company that overspends even more than Epic does.

Honestly it would be awesome for Disney to takeover Epic and hopefully destroy UE in the process.

If devs put more time into actually using UE5 instead of using the stock systems I’m sure people wouldn’t hate it as much.

If devs put more time into actually making UE5 work and not use any of its big features that are the cause of all of its performance problems and graphical glitches they're not really using UE5 anymore. Like Arc Raiders. They use a heavily modified version without Lumen, Nanite or VSMs.

But yes it's a combination out of lazy incompetent devs, a shitty engine and Nvidia wanting everyone to use their frame generation bullshit.

This is going to be as successful as Lucas Arts after acquisition....

And here I thought Sweeney was just going to straight up hand it over to the chinks.

Its better to sell everything to the jews. Then the dreggs can pretend like America and whites own it and he can sleep soundly in his trailer at night.

Blackrock and the rest of the WEF funds will continue pouring money into companies like Disney and making their investment contingent on woke content guidelines until any possible competition has been starved out of the market. They fully intend to make woke trash the only available entertainment across every medium.

Luckily, they keep failing at snuffing out the competition, though. In the land of ESG, the honest mediocre content becomes king. They overestimated how much they could control the narrative, especially with the younger generations.

What exactly are Disney's profit centers at the moment? Pixar ain't it, I think.

Parks (barely) and their cruise line. Everything else is deep in the red.

▲ 7 ▼

And they're squeezing every drop of profit they can get out of the parks. The quality of the offering in 2026 pales in comparison to 2006. The last 20 or so years have seen an extreme drop in perks and quality along with price raises through the nose. It's an insane business model.

Yep. They are following the same death spiral as movie theaters. Fewer people are going, so they charge more from the ones who still go to make up for it. This makes fewer people go, so they charge more to those who still go... Rinse and repeat until dead.

"Death spiral" sounds so bad... In corpo groups, we prefer to call it a "positive feedback loop".

They don't need profit. The goal is to demoralize you.

Sometime in the future, an Unreal Engine contributor fails to validate their pull request:

Hate how disney and netflix getting their grubby little fingers in anime.

Given Unreal engine's increasing use in film production, this would make sense.

After Disney shut down their internal gaming division a few years ago too. They are just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks these days.

Why would they be in a hurry to be profitable. The parks are their main revenue. And people are still stupid enough to consume their slop.

And Glgetting a cut from your taxes certainly helps too.
