If ure not doing coding or academic language (or a few other niche industry uses), don't bother, you shouldn't.
If you're doing academic or journalistic writing, there are so many required parenthesis all over the place, so they have a bunch of rules that you need to use brackets for certain things instead, depending on the system. If I remember my APA right, it's square brackets when citing within a sentence within parenthesis (like this [vicious_snek6, 2026]) or like this when introducing an abbreviation in a citation (Kotaku in action 2 [KIA2], 2026) or "when you have a quote and you wanna flex on their mispelling [sic]" which of course means their entire argument is wrong. And about 100 other stupid little rules that are far less useful.
It's still a mess and horrible to read, but the square brackets do help keep it cleaner, and signal that something other than usual parenthetical information is happening, there's a system.
If you are getting to the point where you think it might be useful because you have a lot of parenthesis already, just fix your writing, don't use square brackets.
Completely different usages between language, programming, and mathematics.
There's already a comment on the first two. Math's got a dozen uses for (). Intervals (exclusive), function arguments, coordinates, order of operation change, etc. Brackets get used for intervals (inclusive), matrices, and probably some things I've forgotten. Braces get used heavily in set notation.
tl;dr: Every discipline with its own notation found uses for all three.
This is a really stupid post. If you want to prohibit convicted conmen from changing their name I'm right there with you, but Jon Stewart stopped using his father's surname when he was eleven years old. He wasn't hiding his reputation, he was angry that his parents got divorced.
It's not a stupid post at all. It showcases how they change their names to blend in with their host demographic. This wouldn't be a problem if they actually assimilated, but they don't. They do this in order to misdirect anger at their host population rather than their specific demographic. It's a lot easier to hide in a forest if you disguise yourself as a tree instead of a cactus.
The average White Westerner would have woken up to their influence a long time ago if they had dark skin and names like Gulaprati or Banerjee. Instead they have been able to blend in because they have paler skin and change their name to John Smith instead of Itzchak Golbergstein.
So what? There is NO reason to change your name. If you are ashamed of your name, live with that shame and do something about it. He literally is his father, and he should have the same name as his father just like every else has the same name as their father.
If a black woman gets a high school level education, and realizes that being named "L-qoa" (Ladashqua) is retarded, I'm magnanimous enough to say "yeah, you can change your given name". Her life prospects would be significantly worse with that name than without it, if her name were literally "Name Not Listed" she would have a better time, so I'd say that's a good reason to change a name: Significant hardship imposed upon you by someone else that passes a Reasonable Person test.
I disagree. Your name is your identity and it should not be changed, changing it hides who that person is. If someone's parents gave them a stupid name, than they should honor their parents and live with that stupid name. If they have a stupid name because their parents are stupid, than they are probably stupid as well and the name fits.
I also don't think trannys should be able to change their names, even if they try to feminize thier current name (ex. Jack -> Jackie) because it dishonor's their family and intentionally hides their reputation and identity.
If you got an esoteric name, than your parents may've wished you to be a spiritual person. If you got an artistic name, than your patents may've wished you to be an artist. It doesn't matter, there is no real reason why anyone should be able to hide their names or change it officially. Nick-names are fine enough.
The two most famous non-Jewish, non-trans name changes of the modern era IMO are Cassius Clay and Lew Alcindor renaming themselves to Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after converting to Islam, but I understand this logic of "I want to be able to name and shame Jews without effort"
I have a better idea. All jews should be labeled as being jewish by having three brackets surrounding their legal name (((like this))).
And also, wear a yellow arm band with a special six pointed star on it. ;)
Parenthesis: ( )
Brackets: [ ]
Braces: { }
Whats the purpose of each? When would I use braces vs brackets?

You forgot to mention that the rules most likely change between languages too.
Brackets are for indexing arrays and vectors, and braces are for declaring a change in scope.
I will see myself out

I do I fake typo "j" because it gets passed any algorithms.

Find a Jew adult that isn't divorced.
What is the Jewish divorce rate?
lol what.
No, the other hundred will be ignored. Putting Jon Stewart first is stupid because you're poisoning the well for your own argument.

Don't give a fuck why a shapeshifter is shapeshifting. A shapeshifter is still a shapeshifter.
If you can think of a good reason why someone should be able to change their name, let me know.
