The two most famous non-Jewish, non-trans name changes of the modern era IMO are Cassius Clay and Lew Alcindor renaming themselves to Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar after converting to Islam, but I understand this logic of "I want to be able to name and shame Jews without effort"
