There was a time - hopefully already in the past - when the only people who defended whites were "turbo racist gang members". This doesn't mean that white peoples don't need defending. You can't be an eternal doormat just because one of your ancestors was "evil".
Similarly, you can't be the eternal victim, your every whim beyond criticism or reproach, because your ancestors were "oppressed".
Makes me think of prison culture. Every racial group defines their friend/foe distinction based entirely on race, but only whites are accused of racism and supremacy. White peoples merely reciprocating the basic survival instincts of directly adjacent non-whites is somehow branded evil.
Of course, the majority of competing racial demographics are highly motivated to promote this advantageous (for them) standard. Give whites some credit: they required a century or so of unprecedented mass media propaganda to inculcate these dysgenic beliefs within themselves.

Think about how much public sentiment hinges entirely upon the skin color of the person holding the camera. If the girl is threatening an aggressive white male immigrant with an axe, then she's a feminist hero. But if the camera man is brown? Then she immediately becomes a xenophobic racist far-right white supremacist neo-nazi oppressor.
Worse yet: imagine how many people are capable of completely reversing their sentiment, one way or the other, based on the revelation of the cameraman's race. For a huge swath of the population, skin color is the only "context" required to establish innocence and guilt. I've personally seen this switch in action. It's terrifyingly common.
