The Online Safety Act was drafted by a paedophile. Epstein/Mandelson isn't even the worst Labour nonce scandal this week. Paedophile, Labour politician and senior member of Hope Not Hate (there's a Venn diagram with a lot of overlap) Liron Velleman has just pleaded guilty to child sex offences (twitter.com)

anti-racist

I mean, the signs were there that he was a pedo.

Just like "I stand with Israel" nowadays means "they have videos of me screwing children in a safe in Tel Aviv".

they have videos of me screwing children in a safe in Tel Aviv

Honestly, the pod person display over the summer made me think it was something else for most of them.

My stupid theory is that Israel told them they have some sort of super AI they could unleash on the world, that it is bullshit, but that LLMs can be convincing enough that the politicians were convinced it was true.

I mean, they WERE developing weapons of mass destruction even back in the JFK era and now they probably have bioweapons too.

I always knew that when Keir Starmer said "Think of the children" he was meaning it in the Jimmy Savile way.

Does anyone else get the feeling that these digital ID laws are more about helping elite pedos to find kids than they are about protecting them?

I mean, if everyone online is annonymous, how would they know they're luring a kid and not Chris Hanson? Anyone who can access the backend of the DID system can know for sure.

No, I think it is just a jingling of keys to try to appease the masses by saying 'hey we care about punishing pedophilia' while keeping the penalties on actual child rape absurdly low.

Saw a poll once on proper punishment for sexual assault of a minor. Was something like 39% death, 39% life imprisonment, 20% long prison sentence(kind of vague, but I would interpret that as being up for parole in no less than 12 years), and only 2 percent a shorter sentence.(This is from memory, and it was an online poll, not a newspaper or gallup or anything, but it was also a general polling site, so I don't think it was flooded)

Most jurisdictions allow less than 10 year sentence for child molesting, with a possibility for a suspended sentence.(I remember looking at a child molester map online when I lived in a crummy neighborhood as a college student, and one of them had committed aggravated rape of a baby 18 months prior and was already out on parole)

Because, somehow, some way, most politicians are in that 2 percent. Maybe not pedophiles or pederasts(someone who acts on pedophilia), but they seem to show more sympathy for the rapists than the victims, child or adult.

Why can't it be both?

Naturally, we're talking about jolly old England after all. Government of the nonces, by the nonces, for the nonces.

I just had a thought about that law they passed in the US to prohibit the distribution of 'intimate'(why did they use that language instead of obscene like most legislation does?) deepfakes.

At first I was pleased it outlawed distribution of deepfake porn instead of possession, as possession would mostly lead to prosecution of randos who put the wrong combination of words in a box.

But I was just thinking(like literally right as I was reading this post): what if the whole purpose was to force cloud providers to put monitoring infrastructure in place that will ultimately be used for other purposes(either by the feds or the woke mafia)?

I mean most AI specific providers (openAI, grok) already had that, so no worries there, but the law might make even GPU compute providers like runpod, etc, put in monitoring infrastructure.

Kind of surprised I didn't think of it earlier, my tin foil hat is normally pretty tight.

The code demanded will likely be terribly designed, and ignored by the actual program. Just have it return a 0 no matter what, and you have done your duty.

Exactly. The real question is what information has to go through it, and will it be stored for review?

That came as a response to two things: chatgpt taking the #2 spot to only fans for subscribers and grok desecrating protected holobunga survivoooooors with bikinis. (Anne frank getting plowed by German shepherds didn't help either but this of course was done with locally run and trained SD models, of which they have no control over)

Intimite deepfakes law is a predictable result of this :

“Kimi2.5 is open source and performs as well as Anthropic’s claude. What normally happens when rich companies have no protection from competition is - mass lobbying for “safetyism” rules that free companies cannot comply with. (See Facebook’s Nick Clegg hired to do just that)

step1- expect to see articles from our state media : “anthropic keeps your kids safe from transing themselves”

step2- mandatory ID for anyone who uses AI to “keep kids safe” (it will be largely old people’s fears of youth)

step3- Only government supervised AI - to keep kids safe”

Of course it was as if it wasn't for VPNs, it would've funnelled kids to more dangerous ways to go on the internet.
