My love for Dune is bigger than one actress, unfortunately. They also changed the gender of one the best characters early in the book, which I thought was despicable.
The strangest thing about Dune was that people were either proper black or brown Bedouin types. Of course, it makes no sense for people in a monoclimate to be so different, but it's even weirder because it suggests that they don't allow for intermarriage between blacks and others within the thribe.
When I see gender or race swapping it goes immediately into the "nope" pile. Unfortunately, this one and the new He-man movie are already on my shit list. He-man movie uses Idris Elba to race swap Man At Arms.
There is quite a bit of that classic lit I want to read. My parents got a massive volume of the great books of western literature when I was a kid but I only read Shakespeare. I really regret not reading the rest
I've heard that the illiad and odyssey are better listened to, as they would have been retold primarily through story as opposed to written word. Not sure how accurate that is ultimately.
Highly recommend The Count of Monte Cristo for a western classic. You'll want the Robin Buss translation.

In the original Greek, yes. But in any translation you'll lose the poetic meter, so it doesn't matter that much.
Hey, at least Hollywood finally realizes that diversity doesn't just mean black people. Maybe they'll flood us with Asian man, white woman commercial now too.
She fucks any movie, Dune I was much better than Dune II, and you never thought Paul would fall for that "beauty"

The race/gender swap of that character was so lame and made no sense.
She looks like something pulled out of a drain
Arabs were all niggers goy!

I can’t decide which of the new actors they forced on us I hate more Zendaya, the beta cuck Spider-Man, or Pedro, the serial groper
Definitely Pedro, he's a full blown believer like Ruffalo. Zendaya is annoying ajd a bad actress and Holland is just a twink
O Brother Where Art Thou.
Watch that instead.
Does that movie have it's bona fides?
Watch your mouth young man, this here is a family establishment.
Yeah they can fuck off with this shit. Won’t even pirate it
Finally! Hollywood managed to end piracy!

I have the book in my stack to read. That will suffice for me

Thanks! I also want to reread Pilgrim’s Progress
The Aeneid is more polished because it's not the work of oral-formulaic poetry.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittt...
I'm so looking forward to not seeing this movie.
sounds gay

The bard at the court of Alkinoos?
I don't think so, he was talking to the suitors in the Ithacan court.
