I have the book in my stack to read. That will suffice for me
There is quite a bit of that classic lit I want to read. My parents got a massive volume of the great books of western literature when I was a kid but I only read Shakespeare. I really regret not reading the rest
I've heard that the illiad and odyssey are better listened to, as they would have been retold primarily through story as opposed to written word. Not sure how accurate that is ultimately.
Highly recommend The Count of Monte Cristo for a western classic. You'll want the Robin Buss translation.
In the original Greek, yes. But in any translation you'll lose the poetic meter, so it doesn't matter that much.
Thanks! I also want to reread Pilgrim’s Progress
The Aeneid is more polished because it's not the work of oral-formulaic poetry.
