You still have those radio bits like, "War of the Roses" and stuff. The radio stuff is probably fake. I dunno if woke is responsible for the decline of prank calls. There is a podcast called 'Why Are You Laughing' that had an episode about The Jerky Boys.
I'm surprised you didn't mention people calling gamestop asking for battletoads, I can't even imagine the slew of whiny games journalism articles we'd get about it today.
There was so much good comedy back then, awesome comedians all over, especially on Comedy Central. Just the random standup comedy shows like Lounge Lizards and Premium blend were both great to see some of the best up and comer comedians, plus shows like Gerhard Reinke’s Wanderlust, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, so much good shit….i don’t smoke weed anymore but when i did, it was a great time to be a stoner
Does anyone remember Mich Hedberg or the comedian who called himself “the Amazing Johnathon”? Both of those dudes had a very unique style of comedy but it was all gold. Greg Geraldo was another one of the greats. Bill Burr was awesome back then too, oh and Patrice O’Neil, which was Bill’s good buddy. Dennis Leary’s “Asshole” song from his standup album by the same title, that entire album of his standup was hilarious, it came out around the same time that Jerky Boys got big. Way too many greats to list but those were a few of my favorites from back in the 90’s to early 2000’s.

I'd complain if someone called me to annoy me and broadcast it for profit without my permission. It sounds like a huge legal liability.
I think 90% of my verbal communications between the ages of 15 and 17 were in the form of Jerky Boys quotes. “Ayyyy, what’s up there, fruitcake?!”
Yes, that sort of comedy is gone forever, and yes, it’s sad that it is.

If you know, you know.
There was the Ventrilo Harassment era that was similar but in voice chat. Not sure how much this kind of thing still happens.

Fuck I missed Crank Yankers.
PLA was the first thing I though of, too
I think Longmont Potion Castle still puts stuff out there.

Tough Crowd would never be made today, but the leftard equivalent will get instantly greenlit
Revenge of the Cis prank called one of those "report ICE" hotlines the other day. It was pretty funny.

My kids liked Ownage Pranks when they were younger. I preferred it before too many voices were added.
Chicom? I think it's half jeets and half Africans. Chinese can actually build things, so that's more profitable for them.
This is Frank Garrett.
