Better yet, any boomer demanding the country brings in cheap 3rd world nurses is instead sent to a nursing home in the 3rd world.
Bring them to the nurses, US gets fewer 3rd worlders, everyone is happy.
Perchance they did but their neverending greed and selfishness landed them alone in a home as their payback. What goes around comes around, eventually
And that's the real truth why homes are exploding with residents, these people by and large had families and tossed them away for their selfish desires, so take a wild guess who isn't around to take care of them as they age out. The me me me generation is finding out why selling out society has consequences. Bummer for them
The reality is most of them prefer assisted living over compromising with family until they lose their minds, piss all over themselves, and get abused by over worked and low paid immigrants.
The industry is just vile. Most families are busy working themselves and can't afford to act as grandma's live-in nurse, but community living/nursing homes demand thousands of dollars per month to look after grandma. But their quality of care is often shit and rife with elder abuse. But the caregivers are also paid shit and the money is pocketed by the scum on top.
Almost nobody in their right mind wants these jobs because if you want shit pay, getting yelled at, and mopping up diarrhea you might as well go work at McDonald's and get some free fries out of the deal.
I'm starting to think those old farts who just sell everything and go live on a cruise ship for the final 2-5 years of their lives isn't such a bad idea.
My understanding is the cruise ship thing is pretty economical for old folks. I think there are ships dedicated to it. It is just lack of family, relatively poor medical care and cramped living quarters, not to mention that the things a basically barges that are reliant on underwater wings for stability, which only works when moving, which can't happen if the ship has mechanical trouble. Instability is bad for the old.
2000, even 3000, a month for an room and medical care for someone in need of a lot of care is a good deal in my opinion.
Really hope that by the time I catch terminal case of teh olde they have AI controlled exo suits. And elder care robots that'll let me live in my own house in my last days instead of going to some hellish facility staffed by violent "immigrants".
Oh there's an elder care labor shortage? Then hire the millions of unemployed white people. Problem solved.

and if the families aren't unable to pay, the state helps them
Hey boomer. You would t need third world niggers to take care of you if you HAD INVESTED IN YOIR CHILDREN!
Or even had kids in the first place.
guess you should have had kids

A lot of them are also cheap and have really twisted economics.
As in, they'd never spend a nickel of their own wealth for in-home nursing care and expect family do it for free 24/7 while they are ungrateful.
But then will sign up for some bougie facility instead and drain their wealth and inheritance within a year.
SO PAY CARERS A LIVING WAGE.
The industry apparently had 9% growth in market cap 2023 to 2024.

So the elder care industry is staffed by criminals? What an odd thing to admit too.

Is it the same elder care that produced videos of horrific elder abuse?
