People don't "hate" it, you're simply wrong as hell.
It's not a "functioning" society that almost poisons half the northern hemisphere because they didn't want to admit that they'd run a reactor test wrong.
It's not a "functioning" society when a typo results in lime green lipstick being the only legal color in the USSR, because nobody is allowed to admit that the government can make a mistake.
It's not a "functioning" society that court maritals a guy who saved the world by not launching nuclear weapons at a satellite blip.
The USSR was a fucked up joke of a society ran on nonstop torrents of lies, up was down and in was out, or else you got retired with a bullet.
All the nations of the mid 20th century were less degenerate than we are now, so comparing the USSR of the time to the United States of today is just stupid.
Stalin inherited a Russia with oxen and wooden plows. He left it with a nuclear arsenal and a space program. Say what you will about him but he understood human nature and what was necessary to run a functioning national power.
Pointing out that the Soviets eventually went through the industrial revolution half a century after everyone else did, is not a flex. At least not one in favor of communism.
It's like Bill Clinton taking credit for the economic boom of the nineties.

I'd say making up a 100-year progress gap in thirty is in fact quite a flex if he could get such a backward shithole up to par with other countries but maybe we have different definitions. Also, look at some photos of Moscow in the 50s and 60s. Clean, safe, low crime, high trust, pure White. Barely any traffic and the cars are studiously minding the law. It's like the social order of pre-globalism Tokyo with the aesthetics of pre-war France.

You are either profoundly ignorant of communism or are just a Russian shill. People who actually lived through the USSR in the 50s and 60s will tell you how incredibly low trust the society was. People followed the law because one wrong move and you and your family would be sent to a prison camp in Siberia to be tortured for years. There's nothing redeemable about communism.
Their society "functioned" in the same way functioning alcoholics do.
