Historically, commies had hated the rainbows as much if not more. Read about Stalin, Mao or El Che, gays are seen as bourgeois decadence.

Couple things.
A hundred years gap is only how long it takes to steal and imitate to reach near parity.
And they were absolutely not a high trust society that's my entire point. They were a place of constant backstabbing, ass covering and incessant lies.
In that sense yes, but OTOH the crime rate was low, there were none of these "western perversions" of post-91 Russia (crime, burglary, fencing stolen goods and forgeries, prostitution, rampant drug abuse) and both older and younger Russians know it.
