Reddit is garbage. Can't wait for it to die. On an interesting note, there's a big push to get companies posting on reddit due to AI (they source a lot of info from reddit), but no one seems to realize its going to be a timesink that results in the account being banned anyways.
Id had a couple accounts I used to use, the trick I used is say reddit humor crap in comments to get like a hundred likes, and then you can post. I never bothered to post much though
Make a stupid obvious pun, respond with only "Yes" to an open-ended question, reference some gay reddit in-joke (e.g., jolly rancher), or make some derivative "switcheroo" comment that links to someone else's switcheroo comment. Do that ad nauseam and you too can farm millions of meaningless upvotes.
I made an account about six months back for a work related issue and was shadowbanned right out the front door. At least a mod was nice enough to tell me I was shadowbanned but I know he didn't have the power to unban me. Only admins can do that.
Imgur used to have plenty of edgy humor then after 2016 just became r/politics with occasional animal posts and "I hate my life/kids/family" millennial griping.
Somehow I’m permanently banned from Reddit even if I buy an account with Karma and use a VPN. Eventually they figure out it’s me and I get banned. Like others are saying, I can’t wait for Reddit to die. It will be nice archive someday
I chatted (briefly) with a user named (iirc) bannedaccount00134. Something like that.
I asked him if he'd really been banned 133 times? He said yes. He just comes back with a higher number & it takes 2-3 weeks for them to figure him out. Then he just does it again. 😋
I hate how any google searchs bring them up like they are a suppisitory for knowledge or answers to your questions. That 10% of useful knowledge will be lost forever when reddit goes down.
But its not as bad as discord. Discord is a knowledge blackhole.
The "spam filters" are so insane now it's functionally impossible to get a new account off the ground without being shadow banned immediately. Used to be able to find combinations of VPN servers and burner emails that would work but it's impossible now. Your posts just disappear quietly from day one.
Mods can override this, naturally, so the sock puppeteers and marketers and scammers who are cliqued up with mods get unlimited accounts. Meanwhile the rate of vans for tranny janny bullshit hasn't slowed at all.
The engagement farming and AI use has also gotten REALLY obvious.
I'm reduced to using throwaway accounts I made over a decade ago because those are the only ones that have the age to get past the spam filters. I tried making fresh new accounts multiple times only to run into the same issues as OP. Not that there's even much reason to spend time on Reddit anymore because even the niche interest communities have been overrun with Lefty political spam. I'd say this is unsustainable for Reddit, but I'm certain the only reason that site still exists in its current state is because it has more value to its owners as a propaganda outlet than it does a functional website.
Oh the Admins don't have a single fuck to give about YOU!
Unless you're one of the "chosen stereotypes" then they'll bend over backwards to accommodate your demands, no matter how stupid they may be.
I tried helping out by modding some minor "right leaning" subs... and was life banned over nothing in about 10 days. They never even told me why, just a reference to the post I'd commented on. I know the Mods can see the infraction, I'd just learned all about that, but they just lied & said they couldn't.
I could hide my IP and make a new account, but why? That was back in December.

Wait till those companies figure out after all that effort that nobody clicks through to the stories posted on reddit anyways.

Can confirm.
Am [Whatever].
(100 karma easily.)
Two broken arms.
Make any joke about Trump, no matter how stupid, floods of karma will go your way.
"Trump is so stupid, he eats ice cream with a spoon!" for example. +100 in no time flat.
I created a new account. My first comment got me a 3 day ban.
Welcome to reddit 2025!
At least there's still the pedophile rape ERP subreddits.
Such is life in communist shithole.
Reddit gains nothing by having regular people join it anymore.

I remember being shadowbanned in one sub. Was yours sitewide?
Yeah, everywhere. My very first post was invisible to the world.
When there are too many users, the value of individual users rapidly diminishes.
Just drop Reddit. It’s literally botted propaganda.
Same for Imgur. Don't DARE disagree with the Agenda!

It is literally unuseable

Browser fingerprinting.
It's amazing how much effort goes into building the false consensus.
"grassroots" eh? 😅

I really don't wonder but this news still pleases me.

Didn't they try to sell it or offer stock a while back? I forget. They figured it was worth billions.
