It hit me this morning that this is what an actual adult argument looks like. We are so accustomed to Kayfabe, it's weird to not see it. We are accustomed to people locking each other up, sending out assassin's and rioting that two men with a disagreement is bizarre. They are countering each other, and chatting it up, but I'm also noticing that they're starting to get deals and more conversation about what to do. I get the feeling that Trump doesn't like the big bill, but it's all Republicans he supports. He's willing to cut it down if the argument is good enough.
Musk, is making demands and saying he's willing to scrap stuff, but he's also proposing making a new party. That's what hits me. There is a bit of tism sperging, but I actually agree. What if Musk started a new party that took over for the left. It's moved the conversation window away from the insanity, and we can have actual disagreements. Our country likes the Kayfabe, but is always expecting a Civil War at any minute. Getting away from that would be really nice.
I don't think that it's some big secret, but I bet that Trump and Musk would agree to be political opponents like this. It gets them more of what they want, and less of the insanity they've had to deal with. People have destroyed Musk's cars and threatened his employees. Trump has a scar on his face from a sniper bullet and a mug shot. They both had to prove the left was insane.
My wife and I don't always agree on things. Sometimes, we have to say hard things at each other. It freaks out my son because he grew up in broken homes that were always destroying themselves. I've had to give him a hard talk last night because he's going to be big like me, and there's a lot of rules he needs to learn now before someone flips out and assaults him for being angry.
So, what if it's the same here? We're not accustomed to adults arguing so we're expecting the big terrible stuff. The adults will find a way to actually get stuff done, and many won't understand how it works.
You think it’s adult argumentation to: accuse someone of being a pedo, hint at canceling govt contracts, threaten to dismantle a spaceship, etc? The kayfabe explanation makes more sense than that imo - if the end result is a new party, my hopes for it are in the gutter, as it would probably be the “Peter Thiel Party”
I have zero illusions that a third party would make it, but a "Peter Thiel party" replacing the dems would be an extreme net positive even if it's definitely not what I would vote for.
The problem is that it wouldn’t be replacing the dems, because they’re too rapid for their core voter base to peel away to anything associated with Elon. It might get a few fringe center-left people, but I would expect that more of its voter share would be taken from the right.
I agree that it would never work out, but in the original post he supposed it would supplant them, so I was working under that hypothetical.
I'm not going to call it an adult argument, but I do agree that this is what two egos look like, especially when one of them is a litteral sperg.
I don't, however, think that Trump's relationship with Musk is so permanently damaged that Trump would pull a Democrat and have Musk arrested, or black-listed, or any such thing.
I agree with u/Bouldabased that a Peter Thiel Party replacing the modern Democrats would be a major net positive, while the Democrats descend into full scale Communism.

I mostly agree, but I'm with Michael Malice on this. Government Funded High Schools are literally one of the most toxic and abusive environments that most people will experience outside of prison or "that crazy ex girlfriend". It's why public education should be abolished.
The fact that high school is being replicated in the real world is an indictment of society, and evidence that the structures and institutions of our society need to be radically altered.
Public schooling is a crime we are inflicting on children.
The only way to take over "the left" is out-insanifying them. A credible contender would have to declare trans people supreme beings, ban all guns, redistribute billionaire assets, and, most importantly, chant "Free, Free Palestine" early and often. Leftism is a one-way valve.

As far as Elon starting a political party goes, I don't care. Musk has never been trustworthy. He was always in this for himself. He proved it with his H1B spergout, and he's proving it again by having a meltdown when his precious EV mandates are taken away.
Musk is not just another corporate communist: he's the Chairman of the Corporate Communists. The one and only thing he's ever been good at is market manipulation. He reads the way the wind is blowing and builds his grift accordingly. He made his first billions by jumping on the Climate Doomer EV train just as the globalists really started pushing them and made himself rich off of government grants and the share price windfall he got from them. Then he did the same with his space grift, and then when he saw the attitudes of the majority moving away from progressivism, he leapt aboard the Trump train to see what he could get out of it, and now he's throwing a tantrum because he didn't get his way.

This is not Kayfabe. A rational Elon would never be part of an orchestrated effort to make himself look like this much of a pissant. He's a teenage girl throwing a hissy fit because he didn't get his way, deliberately saying the things he thinks will upset Daddy Trump the most. That's what this is. That's all this is.
Its also completely in character with Musk, as he does this constantly. He got called out over his immigration stance? Week long hissy fit. Someone said he wasn't actually #1 POE Gamer in the world? Forces his baby momma to release a statement saying he is.
This is how he has always been, and him being temporarily working for us in one capacity doesn't change who he was.
We also have a definitive answer now as if this was about doing something to set peoples ideas and set up a new party, it fell flat on its face as a bare single-digit percentage of people are siding with Musk over Trump (Trump being over 70%). Honestly, I am absolutely of the opinion that he has a drug problem (as it has been repeatedly talked about even before he was in politics), he crashed out while on that ketamine rage energy, and then had post-crashout clarity and realized "Oh shit, I fucked up" which is why he is trying to talk it back and make olive branches to Trump (who is thoroughly unamused from the sounds of it).

Yeah, kids who grow up in insecure homes don't understand that small conflicts stay small, and that everyone implicitly agrees to that. If he doesn't learn that he'll either replicate or duplicate a coping strategy.
In those situations, replicating means he'll explode during arguments that don't warrant it. While duplicating a coping strategy means he'll basically self-isolate, and sever long-term healthy relationships over minor issues under the assumption that the minor issues will explode.
He's accustomed to exploding, so we've taught him to take breaks.
That's good, he's got to learn that it's okay to feel angry, and that you can accept the feeling and not act on it until you've felt your anger and thought it through.
It's useful because we both get a break.
