Readers Annoyed When Fantasy Novel Accidentally Leaves AI Prompt in Published Version, Showing Request to Copy Another Writer's ...
A scammer left glaringly obvious evidence of using AI to write portions of a fantasy novel and even tried to copy the style of a real author.
Now just imagine how many "writers" are doing it without getting themselves caught. (Including ghost writers paid to write for someone else.)
Did editors stop being a thing?

AI can be really useful when writing. Can't remember a character's name or hair color? AI will find it for you, and add it to your characters file. Need some help with the story or style? Ask how various authors would do it, or even how those character would respond.
As a tool, it's great. As a plagiarizer, it gets old fast.
It's also good to clean up something you've written like an email you're sending way above your pay grade.
Since we're on the topic, remember that dude who made that scam Willie Wonka event in Scotland last year? He has also published eight or so AI generated books on Amazon.
I recall a cyberpunk game where a club was featuring a music group famous for actually playing their instruments instead of just faking to computer-generated music.
Truns-out they were faking too like everyone else.
We're getting there with drawers and authors ( journoids included ). More and more use AI to do their job for them untill they can all be replaced with AI, but lie about doing it ''traditionally'' to get money.
I mean, it's romance fiction. AI couldn't write any worse.
To be fair, if you knew how awful so many books are, AI is an improvement. A lot of writers have been spoiled by low standards and expectations, and this could be a good step to waking up the industry.
