An Italian Artist Sold A 'Invisible Sculpture' For $18,300: It's Literally Made Of Nothing - Finance And Investing
In May 2021, Italian artist Salvatore Garau made headlines. He sold an invisible sculpture for $18,300. Titled Io Sono ("I Am"), the piece exists only in
You own nothing physical, but you own a document that SAYS you own it.
So, Bitcoin
Hello, I would like to buy some gold.
"Good for you! It's a wise investment to make these days. Let me just write up a..."
No, I don't want a certificate. I want the actual thing.
"...what are you a troublemaker or something?"
Ahh, NFTs.
Though this is a separate topic: bitcoin owned represents the real world work effort and encrypted security that makes up the 491.50 GB interlocking encrypted ledger.
Bitcoin is just another stock in the stock market. Anyone who says otherwise is coping so fucking hard it hurts to watch.
If you can't hold it, you don't own it.
I "own" some shares of stock, and I'm not sure of those either.
Also: SAmsung, TOSHIba, NAKAmichi, MOTOrola
My keys to the ledger are on my backup external drive. Unlike this home I'm living in, I can prove that I actually own those.
For your benefit, I will be holding that drive in my left hand, as I press the save key on this post.
You're not calling Elon a liar.
And before SOMEONE has an autistic tantrum, Elon deleted that shortly after posting it, deliberately invoking the Streisand Effect to get people talking, and all I have is the screenshot.
I don't know what Elon posted, so you are going to have to elaborate on your statement for me to understand.
Click the link.
OK. But I don't know that from Elon. As it's just speculation on the origins of Bitcoin.
Pretty much, always has been. Instead of giving taxes (or halt bankruptcy from eating at physical cash), you sell the โartโ (or in this case, the certificate) to the bank as collateral. This has been the go to bankruptcy protection for decades.
I was about to write "Still better than an NFT." but isn't that basically an NFT?
NFTs could be usable for digital recites and signatures of real world assets, but sadly, in their current form and usage, they're garbage.
all modern art is money laundering, demoralization propaganda, or both
But are we certain of who is in control of the propaganda at this point. It's like predictive programing versus cautionary tales. We simply can not be sure, without knowing the motivation.
Itโs beautiful. I can hang it next to my invisible medical degree.
Mine got stolen.
I know. Don't DM me. I'm not giving it back.
Arists have been minimalizing art since the 60s or so. First it was just some random basic shapes. Then only some random brush strokes. Then just a banana taped to the wall. Now there's not even a work of art.
The only logical next step is that there won't even be an artist.
I don't believe any of those people were real artists. I believe those were paid CIA and Mossad assets.
if it's not money laundering, art collectors are genuinely stupid. why do I keep having to refer to The Emperor's New Clothes?
You buy the story behind it and the high-profile name attached to it, as was exemplified by that banana taped to the wall 'piece'. Other artwork includes a can of shit (Piero Manzoni, circa 1961) or the 'Piss Christ' (1987).
One 'art piece' had a camera located in the toilet bowl and recording people's business there.
It's naturally speaking also money laundering but the more famous an 'art piece' gets, the more value it gets. That 'Invisible Sculpture' probably is now worth double.
I bet an Emperor had bought that. Along with some new clothes.
Heard about this and sadly not even surprised
your average ntf
Im guessing its the former but they are just getting bolder with the invoice itemization.
I'm sure you can see it if you're someone with the eye for artistry or some hogwash. The emperor really has no clothes... Or pretentious art pieces.
And yet, it's a powerful message. I'm enduring the loss of my mother, and I get it. Still not worth a damn penny, but it's priceless
