Well since most of the website is pornography, the likely reason is that the swaths of states requiring a photo ID to ensure adults have access to the material. Basically, I believe Reddit is avoiding lawsuits.
I noticed that too - they go to the usual porn subs, get their recognition from coomers, and then they announce they opened their OF to mooch off of said coomers.

We've got the first full western country intending to implement Government approved photo ID and facial recognition for all content not "safe for kids", in particular for adult content/nudity which will make it so impractical and costly to host and access it, they may as well just get rid of it rather than risk a ruinous fine of £18m or 10% of worldwide revenue. That comes in by July. One key factor in the UK legislation is that companies will have to prevent VPN users bypassing the age/ID verification. The biggest casualty of this will be OnlyFans who will likely abolish the adult material, have individuals evolve to fully clothed "girlfriend experiences" and transform into being a competitor for Patreon and SubscribeStar. The EU will implement similar regulation in 2026.

I actually want to know this as well. There are no sites that are as big as Reddit that works the way Reddit does. The way some of these actual alt-right people fucked off to voat after Reddit banned any conservative thought to the right of Mao and other alt media just created smaller echo chambers of the same retarded shit.
The only other "media" site they have is Bluesky, but that site is already fucking trash and over-moderated and infested with CP. Redditors don't have any other social media sites to flee to. They could maybe join that alternative called Lemmy or whatever but it'll have way less users than Reddit ever did.
The existing social media sites already are occupied and have large userbases - Redditors have nowhere to flee to that will allow them to spew their communist rhetoric and their NSFW faggotry and trans-grooming idolatry.
