I don't know. If you follow through on the article it could be said that Mackie's idea of Captain America represents the dream, not the name of the dream.
It's an artistic interpretation of what he says, but he is an actor and actors fight unseen dragons with swords made of wood for princesses that aren't there, and always have.
The dream can be more than the name of the dream. The principles of the dream aren't limited to America, but best shown to be possible there.
That all said and done, the film will probably be crap.
I would honestly love it if the poster for the film not only photoshopped the lead character somehow but just replace it with enough alternative options, like having Red Hulk front and center, that it looks like a completely different movie leading to even worse receptions because it's that much of a bait and switch.
You are likely correct LastRights, as an actor on the advertising campaign he's a mannequin for the movie before anything else. Hence the global appeal of the kid with the stick saving the imaginary princess from the dragon.
“Captain America represents a lot of different things & I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity.”
Charitable interpretation is that saying, "Captain America represents America," is a lazy answer and that one should consider the specifics of what that means. It's a clumsy way of putting it at best.
Different Captain and a different actor playing the guy who will become a different Hulk is really stretching it.
Yeah but it's going to be Blacktain America vs Red Man Bad, so you just know it's going to carry all the subtly of a brick through the window, regardless of Harrison Ford taking over the role of Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross after William Hurt died almost 3 years ago.

He is trying to promote the movie to the Chinese market.
"No, this isn't about America. This about China being great."
He's black, so good luck with that one.
Damn, not only will this movie bomb domestically, they won't even be carried by China. Disaster incoming.

No, he's a nig, and China doesn't like nigs.
Based Asians.

Still no interest in seeing this flop.
I've yet to see the Edward Norton Hulk one and so it's a hard sell for most people already when it comes to the Marvel brand.
Different Captain and a different actor playing the guy who will become a different Hulk is really stretching it.
But it's Black History month, so some people will be going along and so that's something for everyone who worked on it to take heart in.
