I am further convinced that there is no such thing as "overreaction" to whiffs of woke. We are all just so very tired of it, and are now so very good at recognizing it the moment it first appears that we smash it into the ground immediately in retaliation. To borrow the Left's own line: it is not enough to simply not be woke; you must be actively anti-woke. Robert Conquest's "Any organization not explicitly right-wing will sooner or later become left-wing," and all that.
I will not eat the poopoo. Do not try to get it near me. Do not try to trick me into it. If I smell the faintest stench of fart, I will paint the walls with your insides and scream as loudly as I can to everyone around me about what you are doing. If I can ruin your game launch, I will. If I can tarnish the reputation of your studio, I will. If I can collapse your entire business and get everyone involved fired, I will. Then, I will laugh at you for giving me all the ammunition I needed to do it and wonder how stupid you must be for wondering why.
Simple fact of the matter is: people raised concerns about the game and if those concerns were unfounded it would be trivially easy for Vavra to discount them out of hand.

There is always a possibility of an over-reaction. You don't shoot your son in the head because he went to a Halloween party as a zombie because he "was wearing make-up and I didn't raise no queers".
The issue is whether or not we are helping the normies discover what disgust sensitivity is again.
If the Left can condition people to accept that the OK sign is a white supremacist hate symbol despite knowing it was a 4chan hoax from day one; I can teach people that having the "new" protagonist for a film or video game be a disabled, black, transwoman of color is an indication of a malicious ideology that the game devs themselves explicitly promote in their marketing material.
