Mailing them my 1st Ed Pathfinder Core Rulebook tomorrow. I doubt one grognard throwing shade will change his mind, and suspect he's beyond shaming, but it's the principle of the thing.

If you're interested in a low fantasy RPG I recommend ACKS 2. Autarch makes good stuff and they're based.
It has a very "Conan" vibe.
Do you have any favorite rules/systems from it you haven't seen from other games (not having any specific answer isn't a knock against the system, which I plan to get regardless, just curious)?
I love the oldschool look and feel of ACKS from what I've seen of it.
The economic system and the progression systems. Progression assumes expanding your character into having followers, servants, slaves, minions etc. Not too many games have formal rules for taking territory and mass warfare and generalship. You can tax your followers or if you're a cleric you can power up by gaining worshippers for your god.
Furthermore while it's not unique to the system I like the alacarte character creation. A fighter isn't just a fighter, what kind of perks you pick and why seriously matter for flavor and in terms of mechanics.
Ah that's awesome, I'm actually doing something similar for my (PC) co-op RPG in terms of gaining power over time, rather than just straight "superhero" damage/magic power.
I had my eye on the Kickstarter for that, still regretting I couldn't back it.
I did back it for my wife as a present, she loves it. Highly, highly recommend. Even reading the book is delightful.
I've been playing GURPS pretty much exclusively for a while, and I haven't heard them going to war with their users to push woke orthodoxy (though the profile pic for Steve Jackson Games on Twitter has the gay nigger flag colors).

One of their employees went on a rant about "fascists", read as anyone who isn't a commie, aren't allowed to play their games. The company put out an official statement basically backing that sentiment.
Not just "one of their employees". Bulmahn has been with Paizo for 2 decades, and his Twitter bio calls him Paizo's "Director of Games". He's also the guy who created Pathfinder 1st Edition.

As long as https://www.d20pfsrd.com/ is a thing, the corebook is optional (maybe even suboptimal, given hyperlinking.) Same with the rest of the books, tbh, which is why saying what he did is so ridiculous.
yeah, but physical media has value in and of itself, especially given the propensity for digital media to be scrubbed/altered at a moment's notice.
plus, and i realize some might want to debate this point, but there's the historical value to consider.

sorry if I came off as preachy or pushy before... i'm relooking at my previous posts and likely overthinking things ^_^;
Books are optional and slower than digital. Be it local searchable pdfs or online srds. Paizo seems to have forgotten that they got by for a decade+ on people WANTING to support them. The very rules that let them continue 3.5 are the same rules keeping THEM from shutting down people hosting all their rules and mechanics.
yeah, but books are more stable than digital files in many ways...more easily archiveable with less maintenance...
Agree to disagree on that. A usb stick or sd card and you've duplicated your digital media and a jerk with cheeto fingers won't diminish your copy. Everyone at the table can have their own copy, etc.
yeah, but the solid state ICs degrades over time, books can deteriorate took, but much more slowly, especially if they're carefully preserved, plus a book isn't destroyed if something heavy is dropped on it =P
btw, not saying you couldn't scan it as a backup. that's a good idea as well, as many backups as possible are always good.
