the censorship is getting more and more ridiculous

When they got rid of Amy's crush on Sonic, they got rid of her entire reason for being. It was a genuinely funny bit for Sonic to be this smug badass who takes on robot armies with a grin, but completely loses his composure when confronted with a demented fangirl who won't take no for an answer.
But now she's not allowed to be an obnoxious cling-on. She's not allowed to be a passionate and driven fan who pushes herself beyond her limits to impress her hero. She's not even allowed to have a passing romantic interest in said hero. She's just girl Sonic. With a hammer and tarot cards for some reason. It's just depressing.
Sounds like they're setting up for faggotry, because that seems to be the only kind of partnering they're going to allow. And of course they'll "ship" Sonic to Tails because the species-crossing just makes it worse and promotes nigger-fucking.
I hate how true this may end up being, given that they did that very thing in the new Ratchet & Clank game.
Fucking what
Yeah... completely ridiculous: https://gamerant.com/ratchet-and-clank-rift-apart-rivet-gay-lesbian/
Less history rape and more JK "I JUST DIDNT MENTION IT BUT TOTALLY IS WHAT I INTENDED" then?
It's funny how that seems so pase to me now given how evil they've gotten since those days.
Holy shit I'm nostalgic for the villians of my adolescence.
Sonic hasn't had a legitimately good game in decades, a few that people argue has good parts and one that ripped half of its content from the old games to begin with (Mania). Its a literal floundering franchise that might have actually died if the movie didn't become an unexpected megahit.
But I'm sure now people will totally buy it.
The original's appeal depended on not being able to see much further so that memory played a part in speeding through levels. Multiple replays of levels was also assumed. Aside from a few niches, today's games have mostly evolved away from multiple replays, and 3D cameras let you see towards the horizon.
Sonic's original idea is very hard to adapt to 3D.
And now the replay value comes closer to padding than legitimately worthwhile gameplay.

Then there's this fan demo.
Yeah that's how you do it. Add a couple of markers to places you have to get to/things to collect and let the player figure out how to get there.
AFAIK the original concept was basically pinball + sidescrolling. As far as that goes, Super Monkey Ball seems to take the concept into 3D, in a much more logical way, although at a way slower pace. But the 3D Sonic games themselves are more like really fast-pasted Crash, which just doesn't make much sense.
Perhaps they should take the combat away completely and focus on something like high speed parkour.
I liked Spark 3. I felt like it was a solid evolution of what Sega gave up on trying to do with the Adventure games.
It's because they dont care about Sonic being good. Sonic is only there to keep people talking about him and Sega positively so you dont notice its actually being run by Sammy which has a bad reputation due to being involved in the gambling industry (pachinko) in Japan. Sonic is there for generating good PR.
At least Pachinko and Pachislo still have pretty girls
I will begrudgingly admit the latest mini series thing about shadow is quite impressive. Altogether its about 20ish min I think, and has some exceptional animation
The non-game media seems to be good more often than not. All the shows are decent to great, and the Comics seem to be popular among some people.
Which raises even further questions about why the games themselves cannot reach passable. They clearly have writers to at least make good stories for the games, yet even the writing in the games is shit.
Sega seems to make misttep after misstep... First with the upgrades to the original genesis, which, while cool, didn't really add much in the way of value (and the Sega CD games rivaled the NES for punishing difficultly out of the gate). Then the saturn flopped, so they pushed out the Dreamcast, which had been their pet project for most of the decade, only for the PS2 to drop like a month (two?) later and basically make it irrelevant, which is a shame, because there were some fun games on that console, which is ironic, given the Sonic title for the console was a glitchy mess.
...and of course the failure of the Dreamcast basically killed the one-time rival to nintendo as a console developer, and they've made unfortunate choice after unfortunate choice ever since...
shame, I really liked the blue blurr... the chemical plant zone alone was worth playing sonic two...
The entire Sonic the Hedgehog franchise peaked in Green Hills Zone Act 1 in the first game on the genesis. Top notch theme song and color palette right out of the gate - the perfect game for a kid who can't beat more than a few levels. Multiple entire companies have been coasting on the aesthetic of that first level ever since.
Hard Disagree.
Sonic 2, and the Chemical Plant Zone.
Man. Shame you never played Sonic 2, or 3 &Knuckles.
Yeah Sonic 3 + Knuckles was basically S+ tier Sonic.
I really like Sonic Mania, but some parts reek of the fan-made aspects where some levels drag on too long and don't have proper momentum and pacing balance.
Green Hills might be the peak, but trying to emulate that peak is why every fucking game since has tried to ape Green Hills at some point to its own detriment.
Sega is lacking in viable IP... they really gonna fuck with their most well known one for ESG points? Lol.
