I liked Knight fine, it was like Revalations is to Brotherhood.
The first was brilliant, the second didn't mess with the core formula too much, but it was a bit dusty, and the new stuff wasn't as cool.
The story is obviously less magical. But it still has some great moments and the Joker bits are very enjoyable. Even the playable cutscenes are workable, they're there with purpose and produce feelings and investment rather than being a slogfest to pad the playtime out.
It may also be hindsight bias, but I found the batmoble portions to be mercifully shorter. Though still hateful to the gods and all people of discernment.
Tl;Dr Arkham city makes you feel like you're batman. Markham City makes you feel like you're reading a pretty good TPB of batman.
I feel the same, I've gotten a decent way into it but nothing calls me back. I played Asylum in a weekend because I didn't want to put it down.. There's nothing I recall bad about Knight. My opinion, it went too far with the open-worldness and too short on the story. I preferred the tight smaller scale story of Arkham Asylum of the three. Most like City more though.
I'd say the thing about Knight was that the major new thing added (the Batmobile) was extremely unpolished. Speed segments were clunky when it came to driving. I don't recall too much issue with tank segments though.
Knight is a mixed bag, there’s some absolutely great parts, it’s one of the most visually polished games I’ve ever seen, but it’s held back by a lot of bullshit. It’s like the Return of the Jedi of the Arkham games.
Bad news is a lot of the incompetents will fail sideways. Theyll get hired by other studios. Although, a lot of studios are downsizing and closing.. but it seems studios love to double down. Theyll hire the DEI while firing as much competent people they can get away with. Hope im wrong.
They made two good games and then sold out all their value on DEI and that can't be redeemed.
Best bet is to shutter it up, take the best and relocated them to a proper new name and hope that people can forgive them.
We'll always have Asylum and City.
I keep meaning to try Knight. But I always feel like I’m in for a chore to play that game. At least it’s not woke shit?

You also got to explore the entire asylum top to bottom, whereas most of the city buildings are just set dressing.

there is no place to go. all of mainstream gaming is infiltrated. there is no "proper new name" to go to.
