I'm a metal and hardcore fan, though I like other genres too (grunge, alt rock, noise music, some rap, and I wanna get into folk). Here is some shit I like, I've been into sludge metal recently (which is a fusion of hardcore punk and doom metal) https://youtu.be/407YNmRKvQs?si=rghNwSVi7goSYKnE This band is the tits especially https://youtu.be/_viq37BLI78?si=ybRhaP3Q8ONdZsZB https://youtu.be/DF3ONgHZJzk?si=8E2K-Lmkl7kMDKxR I also like brutal death metal and goregrind too https://youtu.be/jaVvUXlxC94?si=H89pa3sO2IDWwEV6 https://youtu.be/QBhLTYNKUbo?si=rfZo_0UM4ccjs80k https://youtu.be/wZ53nzC2h0M?si=wTRwktdaIXKY2wVn https://youtu.be/EOzBm073ECU?si=BK5l7F1a8hBQSnM3 https://youtu.be/JnNMHMyicOY?si=qHOsbQ_OQMLD4QGx

I love it all. 80s baby so lots of 80s and 90s stuff. I was very retro as a kid so I love Motown, Classic Rock, classic R&B, Funk, Jazz, old country, bluegrass, blues, gospel, and folk music. Electronica as well but way out of the loop. ska and Reggae as well as punk (Clash forever). My favorite metal group is Iron Maiden followed by Metallica
What do you think of modern Maiden?
I have downloaded their newer albums but haven’t had a chance to really listen. Are they decent at least?
If your definition of decent is 3 to 5 good songs out of 10 to 12 on an album being good, then yes.
Thanks for the heads up
Judas Priest seems to be mostly keeping it together at least.
Priest's new material is okay, Maiden's new material is a disaster, and Saxon's new material is okay.
Agreed. Maiden needs to edit their songs into something worth listening to. I'm not put off by long songs, but they need to be interesting.
Mongolian Throat Singing, the only pure artform left.
It’s gone downhill since it went woke
I don't know if it getting older or what, but my preference has gone a lot more chill the last few years. More chill rock and blues and the like. Also some more country. Almost all old stuff in any of those categories. All time favorite, it's easily about any 90s grunge.
I really do like nearly any music at the right mood, even stretching as far as things from the 40s and 50s well beyond their prime, classical, opera occasionally, etc. With about the only exclusions being boy-band/glamour-woman pop and almost all rap. I'm not interested in anyones niggas, hoes, bitches, etc.
I was a 90s teenager so my taste run mostly mainstream alternative, 90s rap, and country. But my country is twangy older country. By the 90s I enjoyed a little of the pop country but it was pushing the envelope. I dig me some 80s pop and Motown and Philly r&b.
European Classical music, Opera, Metal, Rock, and videogame soundtracks. I like 70's and 80's stuff.
It's literally all about Ska, but no one else knows but me. Riding the Fourth Wave
I love ska but only know like original Jamaican stuff from 60s and British stuff from 70s. Love Selector and Judge Dread. What new stuff is out?
I love old Jamaican Ska too! Dude, the Impalers, Metro Azul
Nothing 'new' that I'm into, some 90s guys still rockin live. I like the Mad Caddies, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, still loving the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, but that's all 3rd wave Ska.
Ohhh. Ok. I know about them. I learned about Jamaican Ska through Bob Marley and the Skatalites and then got into the British stuff. Love Message to Rudy.
Nice
I have twins now and then at my house. They love Viking rock, Bloodywood, and medieval folk rock. I play it right before bed time and they calm down enough to be put to rest.
They also like specific songs by Melodicka Bros

I like this one because it feels really Argentine.
I like Ghost
I'll listen to anything, I'm a mood based listener, if I'm doing sci-fi work for example I'll listen to space opera or if I want something energetic I'll go to rock. Tend to go towards anime soundtracks and game music because it helps with the mood.
I do enjoy some electronica style stuff depending if I'm wanting to feel like a hacker, great for writing code.

Also +1 for Youjo Senki the soundtrack is hilarious.

Can't go wrong with space opera when modelling space ships.

I like Rammstein and Stratovarius for metal.
If anyone likes the idea of Christian Thin Lizzy I recommend listening to Wytch Hazel. The albums Pentecost or Sacrament I think are their best.
I've gotten into the habit of listening to songs I hear in the background of YouTubers I watch to Anime and games. Turns out the people I subscribe to share my taste:
So some of it is phonk music like this and this
And then some is from the op and eds I here like Meritocracy by Aimi, that's for working and working out, otherwise I listen to podcasts in the background.
I don't like too much stoner/sludge, though Kyuss always hit that sweep spot with me and have out of the gate. I think Melvins fucks too though I need to be in a proper mood to really enjoy them -- usually after a bad date with a pretty lady who wouldn't stop glancing at her phone in my view. Those are some normie bands of the genre so I reckon you know of them, but just in case you don't do Welcome to Sky Valley for Kyuss and Senile Animal for Melvins.
Early The Fall of Troy resonates with me the best as my username should show. I feel like Thomas is running out of ideas as the later material sounds like a cheap imitator (or doppelganger, if you will) that you'd find playing a local dive because they cost nothing to book.
More recently I've been diving into bands that took implicit, if not explicit, influence from the Fall of Troy and other bands like them: Dance Gavin Dance, Hail the Sun, Eidola, etc. The guitarist for Dance Gavin Dance, Will Swan, made a record company called Blue Swan Records specifically for bands that catered to that "progressive post-hardcore" sound. As a consequence, fans started colloquially and controversially referring to that flavor of music as "swancore". I like the name since it encompasses a subgenre of hardcore that hits that sweep spot for me and there are specific elements that I know will exist if tagged with that name. Some good examples:
Dance Gavin Dance - Lemon Meringue Tie
Dance Gavin Dance - NASA
Dance Gavin Dance - Deception
DGD have had three different clean vocalists throughout their lifespan so I pulled one of each.
Hail The Sun - Will They Blame Me If You Go Disappearing?
Eidola - Caustic Prayer
Lastly, the good ol' Beatles have been climbing up my pecking order. I gave Abbey Road a spin about a month ago and it finally clicked for me. It's an album that you need to hear from start to finish, especially the medley on the B-side.
