The first part might've been believable....until she blocked people as then you know she wasn't being honest.
Japanese culture is when you apologise, you do it big, public and accept the rage that comes with it. I saw nuclear officials bow on public TV for fukushima, if you can't do that as a minimum for the censorship then you aren't being honest.
i dont think she's being honest either. "its for other countries standards" is a bullshit excuse (And i've seen wokes in Japan use this excuse often to gaslight otaku over why changes need to be made to things) and its not like other countries can't just have their own censored version only for their country if it really came down to it without the original being censored, like how things were always done before.
And there are countries that don't allow LGBT to broadcast but that doesn't stop there from being yaoi or yuri anime around.
I don't know anything about this so forgive me for acting like a tourist, but if you don't believe her then what do we think the reason is? Is she secretly a blue-hair commie? Or a Megalia type feminist?
That she was told to do this by someone else on the project "for other countries standards" seems just as believable of an answer, and I don't really see a contradiction there.
She's acting like she HAS to censor, that its outside her control. This is something i don't believe. (whether its her decision or the team decision doesn't matter, its not something that needed to be done at all , but she's acting like it does) like i said other countries could have their own censored version without effecting the original if it came down to it and also there's countries that dont allow lgbt to broadcast but that doesnt stop there from being yaoi and yuri anime.
I mean if the job title is accurate that she's just an artist then it really could be outside her control though. The animators don't get the final say, if the director or producers dig their heels in with "no bikini" then there's no way to stop that without immolating your career.
If she's not doubling down like a the real zealots usually do, then there's a real chance the producers are chasing the ESG bux and forcing the artists into this.
After the turn of the millenium, no one was asking for Anime to get bigger or officials to get involved in exporting it. The fansub/scanlate community had everything under control and Crunchyroll was hated and only used for finding underaged terminally online weebs to groom.
Its growth as a mainstream business is almost perfectly in line with the downfall of the anime community and its influx of politics and tourists.
As much as "keikaku means plan" gets rightfully shit on, things like that were a solid source of passively learning Japanese. You'd never get proficient, but you'd learn a lot of little pieces to turn into context clues and could infer a lot of dialogue just from it.
Those niggas were making us learn and we didn't appreciate them.
Exactly, I didnt gravitate to anime despite it being japanese. I gravitated to it BECAUSE it was japanese as they refused to bend knee to the westerns degenerate standards. They did their own thing were unapologetically based, and I loved them for it. So if they think they can bend the knee and stay awesome, they're in for a shock. They will fail, just like western entertainment failed.
Maybe it's because I'm not a super fan of the series, but I find all the spinoffs cheapen the overarching themes of acceptance (whether it's leaving your friends or even their deaths) and mono no aware Persona had.
Their stories are all non-canon and with the exception of Strikers all seem to actively treat themselves as such with absurd excuses for circumstances happen. The point really seems to be "have fun with your characters in a different genre." Most are even sold at a cheaper price on top of it.
I don't think its meant to be anything but fanservice comedy with a new genre, and in that regard it succeeds because most of them are genuinely good entries into their genres (dungeon crawler, rhythm game, Xcom/Rabbids).
I'd only think they cheapen it if they tried to actually be taken seriously while doing so, but afaik only Strikers does. And that one legitimately continues the themes of P5 about authority and conformity.
Prisma Illya is available in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia.
Made in Abyss is available in all the above, too. Sure Australia has issues, but it would STILL have issues even with the censored version, they're full-on insane down there.
Those two IPs are FAR more egregious than anything Re:Zero has to offer on the outfits/nudity/questionable content front.
So clearly, the excuse is a lie. Whether the lie was told to this person, or they're telling it themselves, is revealed in the second message: Someone being told a lie gets mad alongside people. Someone telling a lie gets mad against people. If her reply was "fuckin' Australian boob-size-of-consent laws are fucked up, and we need that Aussie money at the cost of lost merchandising to Japan and the USA!", or if it was "I was told the USA would not buy rights to air this, even with localization-censoring, if we did not censor it in Japan in the first place, which thinking on it, makes no sense.", then maybe she was lied to.
But "OMG I'm feeling SO ATTACKED right nao, just because I fucked with your guys stuff you think you have a right to get mad at me? Oh mawgawd, blocking replies" is NOT the actions of someone who was lied to.
Thank you. Was going to comment there but since that thread is a day old I'll say it here.
I've seen a disturbing trend of redditards trying to pretend as if this kind of censorship is, and I shit you not, because of "puritanical Christian groups." It's like they know it's bad but desperately try to convince themselves that their retarded mind virus isn't the cause.
They would undoubtedly either pretend to fail to see the link between those things or just go off the rails screeching about how you're an extremist gamergater.

that is a possibility too
I say this as an anime fan of over 25 years:
If this is what exporting anime leads to?
Fuck it. Anime for the Japanese ONLY. Never export. Keep your identity.
After the turn of the millenium, no one was asking for Anime to get bigger or officials to get involved in exporting it. The fansub/scanlate community had everything under control and Crunchyroll was hated and only used for finding underaged terminally online weebs to groom.

I miss the days of proper fansubs so much. Mainstream success was a mistake.

"It's for other country standards"
Then let them censor it and make the game as is, the way it was meant to be.
When people are genuine, it doesn't take a half second of thought to come up with a plot hole in their argument.
Its an anime not a game but yeah i agree.
My mistake, I misread as Persona 3 for some reason. I thought they were remaking that. Again.
Atlus stalled out at P5, so I don't blame you.
At least they are still making spinoffs, which continue to be better than they should given the expectation of a low quality cashgrab they could be.

You can still quote reply

Don’t let feminists lead
This reads like an excuse a true believer would write, just lacking the overt antagonism and passive-aggressiveness.
stop caring about foreign countries?
Japanese are just 5 years behind the west and they are catching up and closing the gap.
This is the first time I've heard of it. What is being censored in ReZero 3?

Someone should ask them if Anita Sarkeesian and her complaining about "muh male gaze" was because of Christians

Make them do it. These people should be seen going off like the crazy people they are.
