I've been playing Boltgun and Super Mario RPG remake. Both are lovely for the opposite reasons. One is a throwback to older games, but tells a story through enemies and design. The other is a modernization of a classic.
Just started playing Palworld with my wife. Only 3 hours in but it's been pretty fun so far. It definitely feels like a mishmash of a bunch of other games though. Pokemon obviously, Zelda stamina and climbing mechanics, Ark/Rust base building and crafting.
I've been playing it this past long weekend. Fun as hell. So far I've been crutching hard on the grenade launcher.
Edit: once you get the supply backpack you're off to the races, it's insane to be able to resupply on the fly.
I've been grinding through all the Burnout: Paradise races (which from the moment I first played it about a year ago became my all-time favorite arcade racer. I consider the game essentially perfect), and I just started playing Assassin's Creed 2.
If I can get a few niggers who want to work on a plantation I wouldn't mind springing for a Vintage Story hosted server, even if I couldn't play on it very much.
I thought the first game was dogshit with bad monetization, and the company behind it broke their older game that I actually liked so hard it can't be played multiplayer anymore without doing a version downgrade that someone came up with. They never fixed it.
HD2 has a predatory live service monetization scheme all cooked up from day one, so unless the game is better than EDF I won't even get it on sale - and it's not. EDF6 is almost out for PC, so everyone with taste is better off waiting for that.
Yea, their corpo speak does not bode well since its just BS in everything. Still amaze me with simping for it.
Perhaps one should make their own Chinese knockoff and release it, since the the devs themself have done everything to min their cost.
Regarding Magicka it seems that recently there has been some modding fixes to it, does that work better than downgrading?
I have no clue, haven't touched magicka in a few years.
I've been replaying XCOM for the past few weeks after getting all the achievements in Ready or Not. Still a great game with bullshit moments.
I'm glad you're enjoying newer games, tbh.
I'm playing hd2
I’ve been playing Persona 3 reload on gamepass and it’s pretty good so far, a lot of the quality of life shit from Persona 5 without some of the tedious bullshit like exhastion and Social Link breaking from the original. The new voices are a mixed bag but I haven’t played the og Persona 3 since I was a kid so I don’t really remember too much. They kept some of the sexier costumes for the female characters which was pretty surprising.
I played a decent boomer shooter called Prodeus, it’s pretty fun and fast-paced. Elden Ring’s DLC is supposedly coming out this konth, waiting on that.
I’ve heard good things about Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. It’s a pretty solid AA title apparently, but it takes place in the colonial period and there’s a black female lead so I’m kind of wary.
Also been playing a Modpack for New Vegas called Capital Punishment, it’s pretty solid so far although every time I try Tale of Two Wastelands I just get reminded of how inferior FO3 is to New Vegas.
Persona 3 Reload is an inferior game to FES in every avenue except accessibility. Down to basic shit like the atmosphere and color choices being worse.
Its still a good game, its just clearly made for the "we got into the series at Persona 4/5 when it was mainstream" audience instead of the SMT audience it originally was. So its literally a joke in terms of how easy it is, all your "social links" are now gamified instead of feeling like real friendships and relationships, and everything is super flashy and cool instead of oppressive and apathetic.
But, nobody was going to go back and play FES and then suffer through that. So its basically the only way people will ever actually play the game, which is both good and bad.
I’ve got the Iso of P3 Fes somewhere, maybe I’ll get around to it some day:
I replayed it last year just to have a fresh impression to compare with.
Its really amazing how well it holds up and the level of little details that a game nearly 2 decades more "advanced" missed. Like the MC putting his hands in his pockets like a moody little emo boy if left idle for like 10 seconds and then running with his hands in his pockets from then on.
Its such a tiny thing, but it adds so much character to him. Whereas now he just feels as bland as a silent protag can be.
I have Prodeus, it's fun but gets repetitive after awhile. Elden Ring DLC I haven't even finished the main game lol.
Does HD2 capture the same feel as the first one? When I saw it was third person, I wrote it off. How's the gunplay?
The gunplay is excellent and it absolutely has the feel of the original in my opinion. Third person is a huge improvement and the sheer spectacle of the arsenal you can unleash is simply fantastic.
It's better in every way.
