A troon doesn't understand why people are fond of one of the characters in Watchmen (niitter.net)

I also like the comment I saw "Have character named Rorschach, insist there's only one way to interpret him."

Moore is one of the most classic examples of Death of the Author in our generation.

No one likes or cares about his interpretation of his own works, he has been shown constantly to be a whiny little bitch about basically everything regarding them, and will change what he said it meant just to hate people more. He has little respect for anyone, he absolutely hates everything that isn't part of his little anarchistic ideology, and generally just wants to be a contrarian, edgy boy his lifelong.

So posting what he "thinks" about people's reading of his work is completely worthless and always will be.

They will not understand morals or principles or integrity as they keep seething about certain character. https://twitter.com/KaskaJessica/status/1746335962647466229

The other characters accept the bitter truth, Rorschach doesn't. If you recall he shared his diary with the newspaper, info that will destroy the peace millions died for cos he can't let his convictions go, meaning possible annihilation for the world at the end of the story

"We should accept lies that kill millions of people and you're the bad guy for pointing it out" is a strikingly honest confession from this necromorph and exactly why they and their boosters are not acceptable in society.

Did Moore intend to portray the leaking of the journal as a villainous act? I know Rorshach was supposed to be a cautionary tale, everyone does. But did he actually think he was portraying his actions in the conclusion as evil?

Did Moore intend to portray the leaking of the journal as a villainous act?

That's up for the readers to decide, but that retard misses the point. Ozzy's plan is ultimately set to fail. As Manhattan pointed out to him: "nothing ever ends". The diary is presented as that element of inevitability.

What Moore was trying to say tho, is that a couple of men with power shouldn't decide the fate of innocent people. Not with a nuclear war nor by effectively nuking a city to prevent said war. If anything, Rorschach is presented as the escapegoat here, wich is really funny when you consider the metatext sorrounding the book...

The ending of the Watchman doesn't even make sense. Dr. Manhattan could have killed and martyred Ozymandias, covering up his crimes in the process. Zero thought was put into constructing that ending.

Drop his body on some rubble in New York, drop his lab in the sun. This is Dr. Manhattan we're talking about here. Why would he need Ozymandias for any reason?

You could not tell an enraged Dr. Manhattan to "stop and consider the following" after attempting to kill him three times in a row, this is a laughable assertion. Moore was so enthralled with his themes and shitty forced conclusion that he failed as a story teller.

And that sex scene, after millions just died. Good grief. What kind of tard does it take to write that?

What would be the point by then? Millions were already dead. Adding a dead Ozymandias wouldn't change that fact. The Soviets were already taking steps back to analyse the situation. Keeping Ozymandias alive allows him to attempt to cover up the flaws in his plan, as they come up. Killing him would just result in no gains, once the Soviets and Allies realized that there were no more forthcoming attacks from space monsters, and they'd be back to square one, without a Dr. Manhattan, who would have fucked off far away in space and could no longer be bothered to help humanity.

I agree with the sex scene being out of place, though. Showing them cuddling or something would have been enough to set the scene, and confirm to Manhattan that Laurie had moved on. Were it me, I strongly doubt that I'd have been in the mood for anything more.

You want to know what the point to executing a criminal is? To prevent him from doing wrong in the future. If he's so truly virtues, he will allow himself to be martyred, and wont fear death. He killed millions, this is responsibility that he should be willing to bear. The very fact that he is running for his life in a panic at the end, speaks of his bad intent. If it's a choice between Rorschach and Ozymandias, the guilty should die. You should have been able to figure this out yourself. This is ethics 101.

Reminder Moore knows exactly why people like Rorschach and whenever he says something like 'they like him because he smells, never had a gf and eat beans' he is being disingenuous

Steve Ditko is completely at the other end of the political spectrum from me. I wouldn't say that I was far left in terms of Communism, but I am an anarchist, which is 180° away from Steve Ditko's position. But I have a great deal of respect for the man, and certainly respect for his artwork, and the fact that there's something about his uncompromising attitude that I have a great deal of sympathy with. It's just that the things I wouldn't compromise about or that he wouldn't compromise about are probably very different.

Even if they have morals you don't agree with, a person with strong moral code is a person who has a big advantage in today's world.

It's been a while, but according to the wiki synopsis, he mailed his journal before the event. Twitter troon wants to act like him wanting to tell the truth before the main event even occurred is him being a stubborn nutjob. So even that argument doesn't work.

Also, troon's argument comes down to nothing but 'author says bad,' which has no bearing on whether or not people like Rorschach.

Every character was written to dismantle the idea of what is a classic comic book superhero. That's the point of the book.
Showing that all of them are damaged & fucked up in so many ways

And yet troon is siding with all the other fucked up nutjobs against one other nutjob due to politics.

The other characters accept the bitter truth, Rorschach doesn't.

Yeah, and if he was portrayed as a leftist this would be praiseworthy. These people are usually the utopianists, but don't give a shit about principles. If Rorschach is a utopianist, at least it's out of principle.

If you recall he shared his diary with the newspaper, info that will destroy the peace millions died for cos he can't let his convictions go, meaning possible annihilation for the world at the end of the story

Again, they hadn't died yet. Also, if everyone had convictions and stuck to them, things might be better. Emphasis on might, as plenty of people have shitty convictions too. But doing the right thing in spite of the circumstances is classic heroism. Who cares if "heroism has been dismantled so we're saying it's bad" or not, plenty of people still appreciate it.

The whole argument pisses me off, because it's poorly thought out, and inconsistent. Very, very classic leftwing argument style.

The other characters accept the bitter truth, Rorschach doesn't.

Bitter truth, leftists: Capitalism produces better results for people than communism. Bitter truth: Men and women are different, and can't become the other. Bitter truth: Trump was a better president than Biden. I could go on. Again, it's incredibly subjective, and just a gotcha.

Going with the flow is good if you're rightwing and cucking to your principles, but if you're leftwing there's nothing more important than standing up for your delusions, I suppose. Again, it's so stupid, and lacks any integrity or principle whatsoever. People like this troonatic are exactly why people appreciate Rorschach.
