I thought she looked familiar; she played Loretta in Justified.
It would be funny if they ended up making Abby more feminine than Ellie. I'm not sure if this is more or less absurd than going in the opposite direction and casting a trans actor for Abby.
I'm glad I'm in no way invested in any of this; never played the games, never watched the show. It was hilarious to hear some "conservatives" gushing over it, though.
Anyway, there will be drama and hilarity in reactions, no matter what they do. They turned TLoU into a meme, there's no coming back from that.
Justified is fantastic. The writing is some of the best I've seen in modern television, and it finished before the Woke Wave, so the progressive politics are almost nonexistent. It's just good, fun entertainment.
Is she wearing a bodysuit? Will they beat her up with a bat before filming so she is closer to the in game model? I doubt they'll be able to find a roided woman who can act
Even moreso than the games, Joel is the biggest reason anyone watches the show. Killing him off is going to go even worse than it did before because, unlike the games, you need people to come back the next week instead of already having their one-done purchase.
But I feel extremely strongly Druckmann will mess with the story from here rather than just play it straight. Likely to double down and make it even more malicious.
They gave Joel brain damage in the show. Him being alive isn't enough to entice watching let alone them killing him off. He's already functionally a vegetable with Ellie doing everything of meaning
Yeah but hot daddy Pascal is a major draw on its own, which is why I think they won't kill him. He is a massive name right now and likely one of the biggest reasons people watched in the first place.
They can demean and humiliate him all they want, but killing him is a whole different risk to their ability to draw a crowd.
Pascal has a seemingly unsmudged reputation, too. Usually with Hollyweird actors, there's some degeneracy either right out in the open or more on the kiddy-didling side of things.
Considering he went from middle popularity to massive star in numerous massive projects, he almost certainly did something degenerate in the background that we will learn later.
I truly believe that some of them are not smart enough to keep their mouths shut at the right times to avoid alienating people, and he is. Did is another thing. The reputation is another.
I think even if viewership doesn't drop off a cliff, the massive production costs (along with a guaranteed marketing budget) will make the show a bad investment.
Just look at how the GOW Valhalla DLC is free while the same game mode for TLOU2 "Remastered" comes with a $10 pricetag.
In the game, Abby looks almost identical to how Dever looks in reality, making her a clear contender for the role – assuming that that’s the team’s goal.
TLOU isn't some unknown niche product. Both the game's story and the massive hate camp it gets is well known and talked about.
Any actress who accepts the role knows what it will bring, so I can't feel bad for someone egotistical enough to accept it anyway. Especially as they also know they will be required to promote it in that vile, aggressive manner.
Its one thing for like, the kid who played Anakin Skywalker. He was just in a movie that was bad and the fans acted like assholes as if it was his fault. Its another thing entirely to act in an IP deliberately designed to be hateful and derogatory to people, then being upset those people respond in kind.
Yeah I felt bad for the actress that played Rey in the Woke Trilogy as she was just doing a job (and did okay giving the shit she had to work with). I despised her character for many reasons, of course.
However, her signing on for another woke trilogy centered around her being a self-insert to the most vile misandrists they could find to direct/write it puts her in the same camp as them as far as I'm concerned.
The thing is, this isn't just some role in a throwaway movie. Its a major AAA production. Signing on for that means signing on for all of it. The media tour, the promotion, the moralizing. Having to run defense for the company and the production against the people you might offend.
If they come out and say "I don't agree with the message here, it was just my job" then I agree with you. But you can't do that unless you are a megastar level actor, else you don't work anymore. So you are either complicit or picky with your roles.
I'm not telling people to go out and do it as the first blow (if they start talking shit obviously that changes), but I'm also not surprised or empathic when it does. That's the nature of the game you are playing.
I'm surprised they didn't pick a troon. I was also surprised that Abby wasn't a troon in the original back when it got leaked. Honestly feels like they wanted to but couldn't fully justify it in an apocalypse(tbf I don't know how they can justify someone who 100% took steroids).

They could cast Chris Hemsworth and still get less jawline than Bella Ramsey has.
She's so weird looking I actually feel bad making fun of her.
Someone told me if I like Westerns I’d be a fan of Justified. I know someone who said Last of Us was good but stopped watching after the gay episode
Justified is basically a western set in modern times. Only got through the first season before, been meaning to watch the whole thing at some point.

I’m putting it on my watchlist
Justified is amazing.
I didn't even bother with City Primeval, as it looked pretty sus. Seems like I made the right call.

Unlike the game because once you buy it, you're stuck with it, I wonder if viewership will drop off a cliff once they kill Joel

the will just not release those numbers. We'll probably not know and can only guess based on stuff like Google searches or twitter chatter.
I think someone's overdue for an eye exam.
I think they got the same basic phenotype of human. They didn't make her black. But the actress has a very different actual face.
It's the writer here suggesting this. I don't see casting people really matching faces.

Men bulk up for roles. IDK if women can do that.
Didn't even know there was a season one tbh
