This means that they reject the concepts of truth and objectivity. They literally see nothing wrong with lying. This is why it's a mistake to approach their ideology at face value, because all of their supposed ideological and economic arguments are just a motte and bailey.

In the recent years of horrible Marvel/Star Wars content, I've had the great misfortune to read a number of comment sections under videos "taking down" the criticisms of said horrible content. It is the usual Lefty nonsense of buzzwords and insults, but what I noticed was that Satanic Inversion that you mentioned.
They will accuse the critics of the slop of pretending to dislike it to farm hate-clicks and create ragebait for views. That "behind the scenes" we really actually enjoy it, but act like we don't because of some twisted mental defect. They do not believe that we can genuinely dislike the New Product, and instead manufacture a plethora of reasons why in order to fit in with some oppositional force. Why exactly we would want to be part of that force is never explained, just created for the purposes of insult and dismissal.
As we are all well aware, the Leftists are the ones routinely arguing against reality and pretending to believe things we know they must be having the most agonizing cognitive dissonance in order to keep living their lives and playing their role of Good Guy. They will say the ugly man in a dress is a beautiful woman; they will say that gender is a social construct, then bemoan the wagegap; they will say that borders aren't real, then demand prosecution for violating certain borders; they will demand the end of Capitalism, then donate money to streamers promoting Socialism who use that money to buy a $200,000 car; they will claim that Conservatives are banning books while hiring "sensitivity readers" to censor and rewrite passages offensive to their delicate feelings; they will claim Conservatives want to prey upon children while their own people keep getting caught in stings and they advocate for increasingly sexualized content be put in front of younger and younger kids.
These filthy animals are every disgusting hypocrisy possible combined with every miserable weakness of the human ego. They have to accuse you of being as bad as they are while pushing for their bad ideas to be normalized just to relieve the pressure on their own tortured souls. Anything to relieve the guilt that as built up over a lifetime of sin and shame and degeneracy. This is the end result of telling little lies to themselves their whole life because they don't want to reflect upon their own mistakes.
They don't even need to be less retarded than their audience, just slightly less so than the effort required to care past the headline. It just needs to sit at the back of their consciousness under "could be true, but I didn't bother to check it out".
Once someone else parrots the "fact", it resurfaces as "yeah, I heard that too". Thus, false consensus is born. You think you hate journalists enough, but you don't.
The Ben Rhodes "they literally know nothing" quote/story was 15 years ago. Which means all those people who "literally know nothing" 15 years ago are now training the next generation of "journalists", who will know even less.
So no, I don't expect them to look. And considering the casual vulgarity that's started to creep into even "prestige" publications, I don't expect it to get better any time soon.
