The importance of fan subs. Corporate can't be trusted.
The worse thing is that they didnt just change the subtitles they also got the voice actor to change the dialogue for the streaming version for the international release.
This is why we need fan subs and to get things directly from Japan and not through a middle man
Japanese companies hate talking to Western fans most of the time. Like, often the best you can hope for is they tolerate your presence as long as you keep giving them money.
The only time this censorship ever matters to them is when it gets backported to Japan itself, such as in the case of Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE. Whatever happens to us is irrelevant to anyone but the biggest suits at the top who get the international profits.
That is only half true. i've actually have seen that they sometimes genuinely think they are "catering to local standards of overseas" and dont realize the true anime fans/Japanese games fans overseas hate these changes. I've seen Japanese people arguing about this that they "need to cater to overseas standards" not realizing the true anime fans/Japanese games fans hate them doing that. This is an arguement that Japanese otaku hate when dealing with woke Japanese that want to "cater to overseas standards" of course these Japanese that are saying things like that really just have bad intentions and want to change otaku culture and they use "catering to overseas" as an excuse
In this case i heard that the Japanese streaming version got censored as well but not the TV version but im not 100% sure.
The change is very subtle and it only contains one word. I would not be surprised if some advanced AI tool not avaiable to the public was used.
Fan subs can be just as ideologically driven, look at how All Might and Sir Nighteye from My Hero Academia had their working relationship translated to indicate a romantic history. When the translator was called out on this he was evasive at first before admitting he had changed what some of the dialogue had been.
Yes but its less likely to happen and in the past there used to be multiple fansub groups to offset that problem, and it wasn't just monopolized by a shitty corporation. And they certainly wouldnt have gone directly at the source to change it .
Disagree. One of the reasons there is so much woke infestation in hobbies is due to the number of NEETs squatting on official and fandom wikis because they have nothing else to do.
Same issue is present outside of hobbies and because they literally "do it for free" without needing to be ordered they make some of the "best", and cheapest, useful idiots for any groups looking to shape discourse around certain topics or interests.
Don't forget who was supposed to voice Ikkaku.
I know almost nothing about Bleach, but even I know you're likely talking about Vic Mignogna.
It's why I gave up my voiceover dreams, despite living in/around the same city as an anime dub studio.
One wrong move, one slipped word, and they will ruin my reputation. Or at least blacklist me.
Plus, look at the type of people you'd have to work with.
I don't know how successful he's been but see if you can apply to Vic's studio. Well, you personally might have moved on from the idea already, but it's something other people interested in voice acting might try.
Just go indie on YT. Or just become a Vtuber. Just don't go corpo.
Good ideas.
However, if by some chance I actually develop something resembling a following, I'll have to delete this entire Scored account, so as to protect my identity.
Jippon is dying.. oh so dying.
It's logical for them to give releasing censored versions for the international audiences to try to get the leftists to stop screaming a try, but it won't work because there's no way to knuckle under hard enough to get leftists to fuck off.
The only way to deal with leftoids is to tell them to fuck off. Giving into them is a sign of submission and they'll never be satisfied with anything less than 100% submission at all times.
It takes a long time for normal people to figure out they're dealing with purely malicious freaks.
