The older I get the more I realize that American culture for the past 60 years has been nothing but grifters capitalizing on lazy consumerist suckers.
I know I'm not gonna fall for it but I'm done wasting my breath trying to stop everyone else. My family and I will be fine. That's all I have control over.

Worse. Much worse. That would be bad enough, but this is grifters capturing the government (subsidies, mandates, protections, etc.) and using that to push their shit.
Grifters grifting directly to lazy consumerists would be a massive improvement. We're that far down the hole.
There was a quote from a century ago about how everything in America always turns into a grift or con after time. Can't remember the exact details of the quote. Even normies conservative outlets have been bringing up America being one big grift lately though.
Even early on the elite and merchants were breaking labor laws. American commerce has always relied upon cheap labor. The English stopped being the number one demographic way back in the late 1800s due to German and Irish immigration, who were used to settle uncharted territory. All of the bitching about black slavery ignores all of the white slaves that existed back then. And of course, during the wild West era cheap Chinese, Irish and African labor were used to build the railroads.
Read "Propaganda" by Edward Bernays. The rise of "public relations" (i.e. propaganda in the form of advertising) is responsible for driving this, and in that book Bernays gleefully preaches how that is a good thing (because those in power obviously know better than everyone else) and gives plenty of examples of the manipulative methods used to sell stuff.
They're also running an ad celebrating 50 years of "equal pay" (aka the men subsidizing the women), despite the fact that the men play best of 5 sets while the women play best of 3 sets.
If the women played more sets than the men while being paid the same, we'd never hear the end of their screeching.
They also show the score from the second Billie Jean-King exhibition match where she played a man and won, but the man let her win that match, yet they're showing it to claim women can beat men lmao
Moderna is exempt from drug marketing regulations because they are a military contractor pushing a medical military countermeasure on behalf of the federal government. Lying about the status of their product is also part of the countermeasure for which they are covered by the PREP Act. Welcome to healthcare fascism everyone! It's for your safety.
I think this is probably wrong, but ultimately it doesn't even matter because the pharmaceutical companies have gotten around marketing regulations by not marketing their drugs. Instead they just have ads for "get vaccinated!" and since they're not marketing a specific product, they don't have to list any potential side effects of the product.
Similarly, the government and other organizations advertise "get vaccinated!" for them and also don't need to provide any side effect warnings, because they're advertising a concept, not a specific product, even though we all know which product(s) they're talking about.

The biggest grift of all is the US Dollar, where we pretend our green pieces of paper are equivalent to real commodities such as steel or oil.
They took the nation off the gold standard so they could manipulate the imaginary numbers however they please.

Three guesses as to what the early life section of Bernays’ Wikipedia article says

The then-teenage Williams sisters played against chain-smoking, beer-drinking has-been Karsten Braasch back-to-back and still lost.
Didn't just lose. Lost badly. Like 6-1 and 6-2, when he went easy on them to keep it "interesting".
Bobby Riggs was also, y'know, twice her age
but the man let her win that match,
Why? He should not have done that
Someone got to him. He totally changed his demeanor from the first match.

Smells like BS, but I just noticed that Nitter shows replies even when I'm not logged in.
