Instead of pushing the bugs on me, would they be willing to feed the bugs to something I would eat instead? Chickens are a good contender, and I doubt pigs would care much either.

You could tell that when instead of soft selling or offering reasonable versions, like mixed into soup or ground up into other mixings, they kept pushing "barely cooked, you can tell exactly what it is and you have to crunch it until the gooey organs pop in your mouth."
Because the former people would probably have tried and not had too much issue with as a supplement. The latter grosses you out to even look at and makes it obvious they want to see your disgust.

We do live in a very strange timeline. I could see secret backyard "protein conversion operations" becoming a thing if there is no "legal" choice but bugs.

If you can stomach a clip from a NPR podcast, the reason that the "right wing" is so racist is that they are "othering" the bugs, so therefore anyone who eats bugs is automatically a victim of racism.

Well yeah, eating bugs is shit hole jungle tribe culture, my ancestors didn't master agriculture and animal husbandry just so their descendants could eat bugs like some jungle savages barely eking out an existence like some small animals near the bottom of the food chain. My favorite thing about this picture is that it somehow took four woke brains to write the “IT RACIST DOH” article. These “actually, thing is -ist and/or -phobic” explainers all follow the same template and could be put out by AI. Why did it take four people to write this one?!?
They almost certainly didn't all contribute. Its either a diversion to keep people from looking too closely at a single author (a common tactic) or most of them just contributed a quote they got from someone they emailed.
