The initial court had ruled that her views were "not worthy of respect in a democratic society".
These lunatics are going to destroy everything.
At the rate things are going, people are just going to start saying in larger and larger numbers that, you know, we don't want "democracy," it's not worth it. We don't want "equality" or "diversity." We don't want "tolerance."
These people pervert everything, tainting concepts that are good in theory. I think the pendulum is swinging...and I wonder how far it will swing this time.
That's the point. They want to poison the well so badly that people will reject the very notion of it, because its been tainted so horribly.
Because they believe once unshackled from democracy, they will simply be the unquestioned rulers. You won't even get the theater of pretending you can vote them out or resist.

I don't know, I think they like the facade. It gives them the appearance of authority and legitimacy, while they can still pretend to represent the will of the people. It's very convenient. I don't think there's much reason to end the con.
The people who oppose them are increasingly ceasing to believe in it whatsoever, which means questioning their authority and balking at their Elite Untouchability status.
The fact that 1/6 happened, as pathetically milquetoast as it was to us, was enough to put actual fear, and with it hatred, in many members of the Fed. They know they can't simply rest on the laurels of this dream-like idea anymore. Not without pulling back harshly and letting the dogs go back to sleep, which they aren't capable of without their own side's instability exploding back on them.
I always have to argue with people here who say that democracy is bad, because they presuppose that the garbage that we have now is 'democracy'. I've never heard a satisfactory answer about whether they think people really support grooming and endless wars. I have a running semi-bet with dekachin, who believes the US is a democracy (and that democracy is a good thing): he thinks that new Ukraine aid will not pass unless Republicans get concessions, I think it will sail through.
True democracy would be pretty great. Unfortunately, the modern West is just a bunch of oligarchies that use the word as a legitimation mechanism for their power. As far as I can see, government action and the popular will are even less aligned than in supposedly 'authoritarian' states.

For the record, that's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying I get why people are getting fed up with the farce, and why it would lead to more radically anti-democratic sentiment. I get the appeal, but still personally prefer a representational system (for the most part, at least.)

Huh, that's a tough one, as it really could go either way. They could try for concessions, and they have before, but I think it will be mostly for show if they did. I think it might end up somewhere in between, but mostly toward the 'sailing through' outcome.
True democracy would be pretty great.
Depends on what that means. It would likely be better than what we have. But, even true democracy has some serious issues...although most of those are inherent in all systems. Namely, the big one is that, well, people are retarded. That's the inescapable issue. Unless it is to at least some extent curtailed, a representational system will largely represent a bunch of idiots, many who don't understand what they're asking for, and are operating primarily off emotion, while being manipulated by other idiots operating off malice or greed.

Yup. Ironic to the extreme, and sad most people are blind enough to not even realize, and go along with it.

I understood what you were saying. In fact, I took it as you meaning that democracy is pretty good, but that these people pervert its meaning.
Namely, the big one is that, well, people are retarded
Especially with this media. However, people are not as retarded as the ruling classes. You wouldn't get transgender madness and endless wars if people were in charge.

That's not how they operate. They are already doing it, but what they're doing is pretending like opposing their totalitarian, anti-democratic rule is what's anti-democratic.
Marxist scum always operate by inversion of reality. They are misogynists who smear their opponents of misogyny, racists who smear their opponents as racists, disinformation peddlers who smear truth-tellers as disinformation peddlers, etc.

"Democracy" to the regime means running over old women with horses and censoring any view they disagree with.

There is when the con fails.

True democracy would presuppose true media.
As long as there's a reasonable way for people to opt out/leave if the majority becomes too tyrannical for them.

Reminds me of the days of Samuel when even his own sons were corrupt and the people began to demand a king.
