If only Chernobyl was in Ukraine.
Wait a minute, it is.
That's just embarrassing.
They don't feel shame
"Checkmate, Russian Bots, Chernobyl might be in Ukraine, but the accident happened while they were part of the USSR!"
So, there is a significant population of ethnic Russians in Ukraine?
"Er, ah, n- no! No! Putin is the aggressor!!!"
I am sure everyone on here already knows my stance on the Ukraine war, but I will never defend the media coverage of it. They are just as "head-up-ass" "cringe personified" as they have always been.
Now we need to see if Time had an article about the Russians shenanigans in Chernobyl and the Red Forest early in the war. Because it would make this article title even more hilarious.
Bonus points if it's the same author.
I honestly don't know your stance on it, the only time I ever see any mentions of the war it's either Tony or dekachin.
I am on dekachin's side, ie Pro-Ukraine. I just think that NATO and its people cringe-post from time to time. Doesnt change the fact that I will pay good money to watch Russia get destroyed by Ukraine.
I mostly stopped commenting on it because it had become a case of "Brick wall arguing with Brick wall", where neither side could even agree on the details to have the debate in the first place, much less practice the definition of insanity yet again.
As much as I hate to admit it, I am on Tony's side, as a Finnish man I never thought I would be on the side of Russia in any conflict but here we are.
I do agree though, it does indeed feel like brick wall vs brick wall.
The sad thing is, I’m not sure anymore whether they really are that stupid or if they’re just clickbaiting and lack even the tiniest sliver of integrity.
Archive.
I assumed they meant to write "the country's next 'Chernobyl'".
Nope, because their fixed headline was "How Ukraine's Dam Collapse Could Have 'Generational' Consequences."
The article does still mention Chernobyl though, and has a quote at the end from a Ukranian "The consequences to come will be for our children or grandchildren, just as we are the ones now experiencing the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster, not our ancestors.”
Big tourist bucks from people who like scary stories? Ukraine has two Disneylands now.
Its kinda interesting. This game Squad has a map that has a dam. In a recent update, the dam broken and 1/3 of map is flooded. Bad timing or??
Sooo....an event that was completely overblown by the media and politicians?
Chernobyl was a serious event. The Soviets, through incompetence and stupidity, created a nuclear powered scramjet, a la Project Pluto.
The part that got overblown was the "zomg cancer" bit afterwards.
Haha I’ll admit it took me a second. But then I’m not in charge of writing headlines for a major mainstream outlet.
