Since he’d been on blockers, this kid’s options were (a) go through with a much more dangerous version of vaginoplasty than, er, “normal,” and (b) go forward in life as a man with about a one-inch penis. Let’s say you concede that trans is legit, both of those options are significantly worse than letting the kid grow up and decide between (a) a comparatively safe (and less disgusting!) form of vaginoplasty and (b) just living as a normal-proportioned man. So there isn’t even a good argument for puberty blockers regardless of what your stance on trans is, unless you just want to lock boys into future transition by making sure that otherwise they will be a tiny penised male, which is all but certain to convince them they ought to transition.
