Real country music doesn't make the hit lists.
"Stadium/pop country" does. That's what the labels push and that's what wins awards, even though it's sung by a bunch of frat boys in $3000 boots who've never as much as set a foot on a ranch, let along wrote their own songs.
Clean boots have never known work.
Can you give some good examples of modern country that doesn’t suck, made within the last 5 years? I’m genuinely curious and want to listen to it...
Jackson Dean, Colter Wall, Jackson Taylor & The Sinners. There are a few out there. The producer of Yellowstone is a outlaw country fan, so look at song lists from that show.
Poor Man's Poison is also pretty good. Although they are more Country Rock with some of their newer stuff rather than true Country.
Sturgill Simpson is OK.
I'll entertain examples from the last 50, because I don't believe good country music exists.
If this is the genre's strongest offering, my analysis remains correct.
Also, Shane Owens has some good songs out there (Love To Try Them On slaps), and he does 90s country very well.
