It hurts. I don't care much about blockbuster itself but life used to so much better when I was young, and it's not just childhoodglasses.

I loved going to the video store. Blockbuster also had great used games to buy. When I moved into the area I’m in now there was still a blockbuster and I got a lot if my PS2 games there

Hell I can still remember the smell of a family video and reading the synopses on the back of movies while my parents picked out movies

We had been renting games for a while already but it was like finding the Holy Grail when I learned they rent consoles too. It's probably why we never actually bought an N64.

Blockbuster had a unique smell.

I'm not joking--just like a brand new car has a distinct scent, so too does a Blockbuster Video.

I think it was the smell of VHS tape rot. Like how libraries strictly speaking smell like rotting books. The slow decay of sun-drenched plastics and films. Mixed with cardboard and candy.

Brand new PC components and games had a certain smell about them too.

I want it back, or at least something as good to replace it. What we have now is a nightmare.

As silly as some of the people around the filmer probably thought it was for him to film a video store, after decades this kind of thing becomes really valuable to retain and a lot of fun to watch. Anything photo or film of just your average everyday stuff becomes a historical document in time. Completely random but I love slice of life footage from the past.

Yeah, I’ve seen that! Like, Miami 7-11 at 3 am in the late 80s I think!

Edit: Here it is, it was actually Orlando, at least I got the right state lol

Nice. I know what I'm wearing to the next Anime Matsuri.

A Looney Toons shirt.
