Polygon apparently had an interesting take. They're offended that more isn't made of the protagonist's blackness and that she doesn't endure racism in the colorblind alternative reality she finds herself in. And on its face, that's a retarded take on an action game. But considering these games crawl up their own asses and force players to spend as much time watching cinematics as they do actually playing the game, is as valid a complaint as any. It's still retarded. I'm sure if Frey got called nigger in the fantasy world they'd then bitch about it perpetuating verbal violence against players of color in what was supposed to be escapism.
They would. If a story depicts racism against nonwhites for the sake of period accuracy or worldbuilding, then it's racist because depicting it means it obviously condones it. And if a story does not depict racism against nonwhites, then it's racist because it whitewashes what nonwhites have historically gone through and erases their lived experience and with it, their identity.
ESG financing won’t save these companies from these complete bombs, maybe Square Enix is praying FF16 saves them and tossed out this dud to appease BlackRock.
SquareEnix better be praying for YoshiP's success, because he is the biggest reason I have any hype for FFXVI at all. I like the Dominant theme, but I don't like how it is mostly reducing gameplay to one important character (yes, I know there's still what looks to be NPC party members, including one guy who I suspect is Ramuh Dominant).
I honestly think this is the case, he is great at and passionate about his work, but it sure puts a lot of pressure on him(and expectations from others). At the end of the day, rather than assume he is going to save anything, I appreciate that he really cares about the franchise I've enjoyed for years, and I've got a bit of hope for it.
Most reviews mention dated, half-hearted, stale gameplay, uninspired, ugly, and hollow world design, wonky FX and skewed visuals, and a terribly boring and nonsensical story.
That they had no real vision for any of these gaming necessities makes me wonder what the hell went on in the pitch meeting for this. Did Square really buy the "It's a black female protagonist, of course it will sell" bullshit?
The diversity gimmick and all the care and love they put into making her 100% unlikable and insufferable makes me believe this is the only reason this game got a green light.
I'm not surprised but I am disappointed in Square and their team on this decision.
Just the usual diversity hires selling that diversity makes money.
Diversity does not bring in money and using diversity hires makes bad products.
Having a female black protagonist is not bad in itself but it is a red flag that the writers are just woke idiots that can't write anything past their limited college brainwashed view of the world, hence it is going to suck.
No VPN here, certificate is valid. Part of the same R3 chain of trust as the original catbox.moe.
Also, holy dull, uninspired gameplay, Batman. Inconsequential finger-waggling mixed with 'just throw some effects in there' movement 'abilities' that seem to function as a dodge. Top it with bad voice acting and ugly faces.
I want the 5 minutes I spent skipping around in that 20 minute video back.
$70. Outrageous PC requirements. Bitchy negress that is literally the worst sort of dreg in society (CAR THIEF? Fucking really?).
Pass. And I HIGHLY doubt the Japanese will touch this one.
All that for 720p 30fps? Are they insane?
Which was that again, minimum?
Yup, minimum.
Jesus I could barely run that and I can run some pretty intensive games
I understand that some games are made for beefy systems but this is just poor optimization.

Dumb investor bait.
Remember when people used the profits from their previous game to fund the next one?

ACG's review of it popped into my feed. The title alone cuts straight to the point: "Do Not Buy Forspoken."

What's the exception?
I think Jade in the original Beyond Good and Evil was supposed to be black. She was fine.
Wow, a loudmouthed sambo woman who gets her powers from her cuffs... what did they mean by this?
Wow... when even the critics can't muster up the usual "8 is average", you know it's a fucking turd.
remember what they took from you:

blackwashing, costly, high spec, and a litmus test for a company to see if wokeness is viable. you know what to do.
(btw I wanna know if they kept in the scene when she cry)
Aw shit nigga, I'm talkin' to a SLEEVE!

Hmm. I saw someone say the same thing where I found it. I use a VPN, maybe that's why I was able to view it.
