Most reviews mention dated, half-hearted, stale gameplay, uninspired, ugly, and hollow world design, wonky FX and skewed visuals, and a terribly boring and nonsensical story.
That they had no real vision for any of these gaming necessities makes me wonder what the hell went on in the pitch meeting for this. Did Square really buy the "It's a black female protagonist, of course it will sell" bullshit?
The diversity gimmick and all the care and love they put into making her 100% unlikable and insufferable makes me believe this is the only reason this game got a green light.
I'm not surprised but I am disappointed in Square and their team on this decision.

Having a female black protagonist is not bad in itself but it is a red flag that the writers are just woke idiots that can't write anything past their limited college brainwashed view of the world, hence it is going to suck.

I think Jade in the original Beyond Good and Evil was supposed to be black. She was fine.
